New Traditions is a place to discover folk art products from cultures around the world, made available through fair and equitable trade relationships with low-income artisans and farmers from developing countries.
Traditions cafe is a community center for concerts, workshops and public forums; a gathering place for a community of interesting and involved people.

This site is about community - from our friends here in Olympia to the wider community of the world. Here you'll find useful information, stories and connections to others. It's just THE place to go. :-) My sister's and I meet there for great eats and vibe. It's a local treasure. We shop there for our Holiday gifts, great fair trade selections! We have large family gatherings, as well as quick bite with the little ones. There's an area for little ones to play with toys. So smart! And when there's live music it's just the perfect day. On street parking is a a pain in the rain but that's a downtown thing and totally worth it. :-)

Food is fantastic and very reasonable. Eclectic vibe, local owner. Near Percival Landing with boardwalk. Great for vegetarians. Real food! Desserts, Olympic Mountain ice cream. A treasure. Many local groups meet here such as poetry group, public welcome.

The baristas that I delt with today were rude. I ordered an iced drink and the staff that was making it forgot my whipped cream which wasn't a problem, until she came back. Instead of giving me a dome lid she squished the whipped cream on top which made the cup to full causing leakage from the sides and when i put my straw in, the drink burst through the top creating a huge mess, meanwhile she sees this and sees me trying to clean up and instead of asking if I needed help or transfering my drink into a better cup she turns and walks away. Mind you my "16 ounce" drink cost around $9. Never going there again or recommending. Go to Burial Grounds or Starbucks you get better tasting drinks that are decently priced and the staff isn't rude.

Fair trade, vegetarian, local, organic. That sums up traditions. The cafe is nothing fancy but it is good. The ice Cream is good, as is the vegetarian dishes. The store has typical fair trade goods. I like it.
