You will need a state park pass to even go into the town. We parked most is paid parking via website used the signs to add our license plate number and walked to the visitor center to purchase the park pass. You can stop on the freeway drive up buildings on the left but lines were super long. It was much quicker to drive into town, find parking and walk to the visitor center to purchase the pass. Once that was done there is tons to explore in the town.
Banff is an absolutely stunning destination, with breathtaking mountain views, easy scenic drives, and a charming atmosphere.nnThe best time to visit is between June and September when the weather is perfect for exploring the outdoors. Whether you're hiking, sightseeing, or just taking in the views, the natural beauty here is unparalleled. The drive to Banff itself is picturesque, making the journey just as enjoyable as the destination.nnHowever, it’s important to note that Banff can be an expensive day out. There’s a $20 park entrance fee, and parking fees are common everywhere. Restaurants and shops tend to be overpriced, so be prepared for that. It’s also a very popular tourist destination, so expect heavy traffic and crowds, especially during peak season. Despite the costs and the busy atmosphere, Banff’s incredible scenery and outdoor activities make it well worth the visit!
Banff Village during late April to early May is a hidden gem—peaceful, charming, and full of character as it transitions from winter to spring. The streets are walkable with a light jacket, and the surrounding mountains are still capped with snow, making every corner feel like a postcard.nnShops and cafes are open, but the village isn't crowded, giving you time to explore at your own pace. We enjoyed local spots like Wild Flour Bakery and The Bear Street Tavern without any wait times. The atmosphere was cozy, and the locals were friendly and welcoming.nnIt's also the perfect time to enjoy the Banff Upper Hot Springs with fewer people around. Trails like Tunnel Mountain were mostly clear, offering amazing views without the summer foot traffic. Elk and deer sightings were a bonus!nnIf you're looking for a quieter, more relaxed Banff experience with a blend of snow and sunshine, this shoulder season is perfect.
I included this town in my trip because I chanced upon a photo on social media while randomly looking at Canada.nnThis town is so beautiful nnMy regrets were not planning to spend more days here to enjoy the weather and capture more of the breathtaking scenery of the town, the lakes and the National Park.nnBucket list checked
