The Totem has been family owned and operated since 1953. Under new ownership since 2011..

A message from Steve and Alicia:

We [the new owners] plan to continue the tradition of this historic location with the same great foods you know and love. AND are also adding some new favorites, including: homemade smoked meats, smoked up by our own Pit Master!

Our family has been smoking up REAL southern BBQ for years. Our father the real 'Pit Mast' [Wayne] started competition BBQ 20+ years ago, winning local competitions and even being invited to the Memphis in May World BBQ Competition. We teamed up with Wayne to carry on the tradition of smoking amazing meats and have even gone on to win several awards ourselves!

We came across the opportunity to purchase the Totem DIner and decided it was a perfect fit. We can carry on a family business, honor the previous owners [Bliss and Joyce] and share our family traditions as well!

WE LOVE TOTEM!!! Cannot say enough good things about this place. The portion size is huge, so be cautious of that. Come with a giant appetite! The prices are good and the food is delicious. The staff here is top notch. I don't know when we've received friendlier service on a regular basis. These people are amazing!!!! If you enjoy breakfast food at this, this is the place for you.

The food took a while to get to us but considering I am so used to fast food, I'll give them a pass on that. The food was homemade and tasted better than homemade. It's my new favorite restaurant and I will definitely be coming again. It was homey and the servers were awesome. Definitely worth 5 stars!

If you've never been here do yourself a favor - go. Forget any diets you have at the door and enjoy some good comfort food like you've never had before. Homemade cooking, without the dishes, in a friendly, welcoming environment. Also, literally the best bacon you'll ever have, somehow both crispy and chewy with tons of flavor. We always order a side of it because we've NEVER been able to recreate it perfectly at home. Giant cinnamon rolls are good fun to share with the table, and don't forget to add a biscuit instead of toast at least once to try those delicious things. Also the Cuban spice sandwich is an amazing lunch option if for some unfathomable reason you don't want breakfast food right that second. I've gone to Totem specifically for that sandwich even though there are a ton of good places around for sandwiches. Don't forget to read their quips on the billboard near the totem pole, they always make us smile.

Maybe THE best place in Snohomish County for traditional American cuisine. Also great value for the money. Large portions and the food is served HOT just the way it should be. I love this place!

My Lord, have mercy--this place is always busy. The Totem House is the complement to Stricker's cafe--a lot brighter inside, though, and a little tighter. Don't hang around after you're done eating, as they will probably need the table. Everything is made from scratch. Probably the second-best chicken fried steak I've ever had, and the best recently. Make sure you tell them well-done hash browns. Five seats at the counter, just like the old days. Very cozy setting in South Everett, plenty of parking and plenty of business. Two-for-one cheeseburger night on Wednesday is crazy busy and for good reason: Totem House makes their own hamburgers, and what a difference. Reasonably priced, about $10 a person.
