This little shop is among the unsung jewels of central Kitchener. When I am cooking a paella, I always shop here first. If you are looking for Olive Oil, chorizo and saffron, you will not find better prices. For a few bucks I get a bag of saffron here. In suburban super markets I pay $10 for a pinch of saffron. Torreense is also great for canned goods such as chick peas, and sardines. There is lots of frozen fish and fresh deli meats too. On shelves in the very back is a terrific selection of plates, bowls, serving platters and pitchers all made from a brown clay with hand-painted, colourful decorations. This is another ethnic independent in my neighbourhood.

I give this store 5 stars because they sell the best Portuguese buns in Kitchener! They do sell other Portuguese products like cheese, sausage, desserts, spices, tea, coffee, olives, cold cuts, and some religious statues.

The owners are extremely helpful and friendly. I wanted to make an authentic bacalhau com nata for my sister, the owners wife helped me to make sure I had everything I needed and even gave me tips! (:
