We had a great time... Especially enjoyed watching Garlic is as Good as Ten Mothers. The big letdown was that the food vendors we visited were selling food that was not garlicky at all! I wouldn't discourage anyone from going, but don't expect much more than a garlic themed farmers market.
My family attended the Toronto Garlic Festival last year for the first time. To be honest before going we wondered how long an event dedicated to garlic would keep us interested so we only planned for a short stop. This year we will be devoting most of the day to the event! It was really interesting and informative!!! There were all sorts of booths many devoted, of course, to wide varieties of garlic but also to other foods. A local bee keeper took us a great taste tour of local honeys and we were astounded to taste the distinct differerences between honey made on the Leslie Spit vs, for example, that from hives on the roof tops of U of T! The local farmers were very friendly and keen to share their knowledge. There was a lot to do and to learn and we recommend it heartily!
I had a great time at the Toronto Garlic Festival eating lots of tasty garlicky food. Especially enjoyed the curry chickpea doubles and the food from Newcomer Kitchen. And loved the garlic desserts from My Creme Caramel. It was a joy to run into friends and neighbours at the festival - I enjoyed drinking garlic beer with them. Also enjoyed the international music at the Remenyi Music Stage - would love to hear more Ghanaian music!
I have attended the Toronto Garlic Festival twice in it's three year life. The first year I volunteered at the door and had the chance to check out most of the goings on throughout the day. This past year I attended as a garlic farmer and was amazed by the turnout and excitement all the attendees had about garlic! The location at the Brickworks is great because it is an indoor, covered area, mostly protected from any weather but open to the outdoors and there are the trails in the park around the venue. I loved the mix between garlic farmers, food vendors, beer vendors !, workshops and chef demos. The products available for sale were of excellent quality. One thing I did notice is that some lines for certain products mostly food vendors, overlapped in front of others that reduced visibility and made it more difficult for a customer to get to. This might be unavoidable because of the scope and size of the event now and the restraints of the space. I traveled quite a distance to get to the Festival, but I will still keep coming if the event continues to be so well advertised and attended! Overall I loved the event and so did my parents who came and checked it out with me.
Awesome festival!!! They have quite a bit of interestung food vendors. The seminars are very informative. Will go again next year!
Fun if you really appreciate the different species of garlic.
Learned so much, tasted yummy and interesting food, and came home with locally grown garlic!
Cool stuff, yummy food and beers. Bought black garlic at a reasonable price.
The venders are a bit pricy but it is a good experience overall
If you love garlic you'll love this place 10/10
