Toronto City Hall serves as Canada's largest city's municipal government seat and corporate headquarters. It comprises two office towers: the 27-floor East Tower and the 20-floor West Tower. Nestled between the two towers is the Council Chamber, where Toronto City Council holds its monthly meetings. The towers have exciting shapes, forming two curved towers around the central domed building, which is a domed building. In front of the towers is Nathan Phillips Square, named after Toronto's mayor from 1955 to 1962. It is one of must-visit places while in the city.
A tall and imposing modern town hall building. This is a great area to explore and photograph. The square at the base of the building is a great area to explore and relax. This is one of many sites in the area that are worth visiting.
After watching the construction of Toronto’s City Hall in 1965, I decided to finally take a look inside. The building still has that 1967 expo vibe when Canada celebrated its 100th year of confederation birthday with its large curved column and central podium.nnBut this modern building design had both praise and ridicule after being built. One mayor in the 70’s from Alberta called Toronto’s city hall looked like a large ‘Urinal’ and that nick name stuck for a few years. Now the building’s structure is referred to as an eye when looking down from above.nnIt is sort of fitting that public bathrooms have once again flushed itself back to become a hot topic for Toronto’s city hall.nnIf you like my reviews, photos or videos then take a shot at the like button and don’t splash all over the place. lol
I love this building, it's an architectural wonder with its massive glass panels, unique over-sized ventilation grills, and the vertical lines of the curved towers. When the side metal gates are open, you have the opportunity to stroll up and walk the unpaved trail and stand near the curved tower. From this level, you can oversee the entire public space, which often hosts music festivals. It's this blend of urban design and lively community spirit that makes Toronto City Hall truly special.
It has been a while since I visited city hall. The biggest change was after you get directions from the pleasant person at the information desk, you get to empty your pockets, go through the scanner, have your bag checked quickly by the security personnel and then go on your way. BUT on the positive side, you do not have to remove footwear.
