The Argonaut Rowing Club is an amateur rowing club in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The club was founded in 1872. The current head coach is Dane Lawson. In the past, the club fielded teams in ice hockey and football, and the football team continues today as the Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League.HistoryThe club, the oldest and largest of its type in Canada, dates back to 1872, founded by a group of amateur oarsmen known as the Orioles, which had been participating in races in southern Ontario in the 1860s. The founders chose the blue colours of Oxford and Cambridge universities (the "Double Blue") as the club colours. The first president was Henry O'Brien.The original club house was at the foot of York Street in Toronto Harbour (now filled in and part of the train tracks south of Union Station). It was only large enough for one boat, replaced by a larger clubhouse which was destroyed by fire in 1879 and rebuilt. The club relocated to the current Dowling Avenue location in 1921 after the harbour location was redeveloped for port usage, purchasing land along the waterfront within the new breakwater protected shoreline. In 1947, a fire gutted the club house at Dowling, and almost destroyed the Grey Cup, which was on display at the club at the time.Lotte Marks' Argonaut Waltzes (1899) is a musical work dedicated to the Argonaut Rowing Club of Toronto.

We had our wedding at The Henley Room this past September and it couldn't have been more perfect! The view was one of the major reasons we chose this venue, but the bar often gets overlooked and our guests raved about the selection and look of the area. All the staff at The Henley Room were friendly and extremely attentive to our needs. In particular, Robin who is the event coordinator was spectacular. As mentioned earlier, the view from The Henley Room was one of the key reasons for choosing this as our venue, but Robin was the reason we ultimately felt so comfortable with our choice. She was very responsive to our emails from the beginning and was able to put us at ease regarding so many of our questions. She took care of everything for us on the day of and we will always remember her and the rest of the staff for helping us out on our big day. For any perspective brides, look no further as Robin will take care of you! We cannot recommend The Henley Room enough as a venue for any weddings or parties!
We got married here July 9th. There are two main reasons you should too! The view and Robin the coordinator. Robin made sure everything ran smoothly. The view and ceremony on the water was amazing. All of our guests said it was the most beautiful wedding. the minute we were shown this venue, we knew it was for us. The entire team at the Henley Room made sure our day was magical! I can’t wait to book with them again for future events!
We could not have asked for a better venue and staff for our wedding! Robin, Logan and team went above and beyond to make sure everything went off without a hitch. We felt so relaxed and in good hands at wedding, and really enjoyed the day because them. The venue beautiful and exactly what we were looking for! Highly recommend the Henley Room
We had a wonderful experience hosting our wedding at the Henley Room in July 2022! Some of our favourite parts of the venue include: -unbeatable location right on the waterfront amazing photo spots on dock and in adjoining park -booking includes an amazing venue / day-of coordinator Robin... really cannot overstate enough how helpful it was to have a kind, experienced, responsive and efficient person guiding us through the planning process, lead the day-of set-up/decoration, and keep everything running smoothly on our wedding day -great bar space separate from main reception room nice to make cocktail hour feel distinct and also a quieter place for older guests to go mingle once the dance floor opened; bar was also really well-stocked, including lots of craft beer options -beautiful patio overlooking the water guests loved having a drink and taking photos out there There's about a million other reasons we liked the Henley Room at the Argonaut Rowing Club, but bottom line is that we'd highly recommend it as an event space!
We got married at the Henley Room at the Argonaut Rowing Club and we couldn't have asked for a better location! The venue is gorgeous, the view is amazing, the staff are super accommodating and we had an incredible time. Highly recommended as an event space!
Perfect for large gatherings, a great venue for celebrating weddings, or any occasions, must book in advance and yeah, they have a lot of canoes and rowing lessons for everyone! Parking is very limited, like hardly, only for chosen few.
Absolutely amazing. Stunning View, amazing service, very responsible staff. Everything we asked for the day leading up to and on the day of was well taken care of. Management team and staff were attentive and fast with email responses. This is a great venue for intimidate small gathering or medium size weddings. Only down side was the direction getting there is very confusing, especially for guests out of town and or not familiar with the area.
My husband and I held our wedding in the Argonaut Rowing Club’s Henley Room this September and we’re here to tell you it’s one of the best wedding venues the city has to offer!! Our guests absolutely loved the waterfront location - from our ceremony in front of the water to the spectacular views from inside the dining room, the entire evening felt so serene and romantic. On top of the excellent location, the staff at the Henley Room are truly second to none. Our guests were so well taken care of - with every need accommodated for and bar service that was incredibly efficient and friendly. Most importantly, we cannot speak highly enough of our Henley Room wedding coordinator, Robin, who patiently answered all of our questions, seamlessly guided us through the wedding planning process, made sure our event went off without a hitch, and was genuinely the most pleasant person to work with! We’d recommend booking your event or wedding here without hesitation. It will always be one of our most favourite places.
The Henley Room is a beautiful and picture perfect venue for events, we had our wedding reception there and it was the most wonderful night, ever. In large part thanks to Robin and her team who went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect and helped us plan the event seamlessly. I can say with utmost confidence that if you plan hosting at The Henley Room, you're in great hands.
The Henley room was the best part of our wedding! From the gorgeous view, to the amazing staff and everything in between we are so thrilled we went with them! They are super clean, super organized, and friendly and really will do anything to support you during your planning and execution process! Our guests could not stop raving about the location, the food, and the staff! Thank you for being part of our wedding and making it unforgettable!!
