Came on a Saturday at around 1pm and the place was popping! We ordered a couple items to go. We got the croissant and a carrot cake. The croissant was surprisingly crispy on the outside. The inside was more like bread. Definitely has its charm The carrot cake was definitely on the sweeter side. The cake itself was definitely a bit wet. When I stuck my fork into it it kind of broke apart as well. But the carrot flavour was prominent and I definitely got a hint of cinnamon coming through. I would give this place a 3.5 if Google allowed half stars. The .5 stars from a 4 is because the place is really narrow so there's not a lot of seating if it's already full inside. Thus I wasn't able to get a drink to enjoy there. I loved the interior and exterior of the place. Service was super nice and friendly. The baked goods are well priced for the quality given. This bakery is definitely a nice addition to the neighbourhood. Excited to come back to try their other goods.
First time visiting To Live For Bakery & Cafe, I’m amazing with the quality and clean, modern branding overall. They carry tons of bakery, snacks, coffee options. The croissant and cupcakes are 10/10! They taste delicious! The reason for the 3 star: I order two drinks, one with coconut milk, the other one with oat milk. I’m sure there was a misunderstanding and miscommunication, both drinks ended up being made with coconut milk. As I was explaining this, the staff ‘argued’ that it was my fault. Let’s say it WAS my fault, it’d be appreciated if they made a new drink like how I wanted it with oat milk. Instead of making a new drink, I ended up paying for another drink for $6.04. Before I left, I gave them back the wrong drink told them to get rid of for me. Personally, no matter how nice the branding is, these small details really matter as a first time visitor. I wish the staff is sharp enough to handle these situations.
I've been curious about this place for a while and when we went on a sunday, it was pretty packed. Ambiance seemed like a place to talk, rather than a solo study place as volume was decent inside. The flat white I got was strong, and really kicked off my day! In terms of flavour, I wished it would've been a bit creamier, as it had a tint of bitter to it. I'd say it was pretty average. However, their croissants were amazing... couldn't taste a compromise in flavour or texture from being vegan. The sandwich itself was simple, but tasty for sure. The price was also quite reasonable, especially because I feel vegan products tend to add a small premium to their prices. Overall, this is a cute bakery with lots of vegan delights. I wouldn't come solely for their espresso drinks, but would definitely come back to try more of their baked goods!
Visited this amazing new vegan bakery and coffee shop and can't wait to go back! They do not upcharge for alternative milk options because they don't serve dairy! It's obvious the owner and staff care deeply about the ethics and its both encouraging and endearing! I love to support local businesses with strong convictions! We also purchased a custom birthday cake and it was out of this world delicious! 10/10 will be visiting frequently!
I'd read about To Live For bakery and as I happened to be in the neighbourhood I decided to pop in and check them out. It's a cute little shop with places to sit, a window where you can peer into the kitchen and see people preparing food and even a small table where children can sit to read books, do some colouring and of course, enjoy their food and drink! All of their food is Vegan. I saw some tall, beautifully decorated cakes in the display case. They had a good selection of baked goods to choose from. "Brookie" caught my eye. It was a cross between a chocolate chip cookie and a brownie. I ended up choosing a Cinnamon roll to bring home but I think I will definitely go for the "Brookie" next time! The Cinnamon roll was covered with pecans and sticky, yummy sauce. It was delicious. Even my husband liked it and when my meat eating husband gives his seal of approval to something that's Vegan then that's definitely a sign that the food is good! Service: Good Parking: Free parking on the street and side streets Location: On Nanaimo St., a few blocks away from Hastings St. Hastings-Sunrise neighbourhood
Wow! If I could add more than 5 stars I would. Best dirty chai I’ve ever had, palmier and almond croissant were flaky and delicious. Love the welcoming and open atmosphere, especially the fun kids table for the little ones! Ordered 2 amazing birthday cakes that were hand delivered to the counter by Erin herself! Easy parking and don’t let the lines deter you, everything inside is worth the wait!
The croissant breakfast sammy was amazing. The croissants are rich, buttery and flaky and melt in your mouth. Food and drinks were really quick, and the line outside goes fast. I can’t wait to visit again.
Simply the best!!! So much love for their croissants, especially the pain au chocolat! So delicious and flaky. Can’t wait to try more, especially the birthday cakes. Erin and the team are such a gem to have in the neighbourhood.
Omg! The most amazing vegan bakery I’ve ever been to! Breakfast, sausage rolls, cookies and croissants! 10/10 would recommend
Always pass by this new cafe and see the long queue at the door. It’s vegan cafe with friendly and attentive staff, love the vibe of people working in the kitchen to make delicious bakery products with great smiles. The cinnamon roll is full of gooey caramel that I like it a lot, if the pecan can be toast a bit more will be wonderful. The new rose and cardamon coffee is absolutely ew favor for my tastebud
