Very interesting that there's no room for comment. No divergent opinion. No opposing remarks. Don't get me wrong, DUI Court saved my life. Buuuut, it WAS NOT your diparaging comments in front of everyone, it was not your judgment and shame, it was not the weekly shame you inflicted.
What changed my life was the treatment by counselors. It was being plugged into specialized counselors and providers who specialize in abuse and PTSD, who could help me look closely at--and change--behaviors that steered me toward addiction in the first place.
I am offended by this self-serving article. You (indirectly) assert that you are part of some sort of some sort of positive change. You deliver "sticks". You put people down and throw folks in jail. You don't listen to legitimate reasoning and slam down your wooden gavel.
I always complied with that gavel (because I HAD to), buuuuut, what caused true behavior change was the work of my counselors and all of the support and help they got me.
