This is a very noisy campground right beside the Trans Canada hgwy with 24/7 heavy truck traffic plus trains blasting horns and helicopters overhead during daylight hours. It's OK for an overnight stay if you really aren't trying to get much sleep. The entire Bow Valley corridor is very industrial and noisy - best to plan ahead and find a quieter location.
It's a noisy location close to the highway, thick with bugs even in early September. It feels like the West side close to the river has better views and is quiet though. I left very early in the morning for a quick stopover, so it was ok for that purpose.
LOVED camping here for a full week. The price is good $31/night and the views are amazing. They sell wood, but the gas station or Canmore/Banff have better prices. We will be coming back again for sure... See you there? Playground: I didn't see a playground on site at all, but that doesn't mean there was not one around. Restrooms: The washrooms are tidy with no bugs, but stink like heck. Mostly like a strong chemical smell and the usual outhouse smells. This was not a problem though as we would just poop in town before coming back to camp for the night. Dog-friendliness: We brought our two Boston Terriers, met many other dogs and had a great experience. I was surprised that you can take your dogs in many shops and restaurants in Canmore and Banff. Picnic area: Each campground has a nice clean picnic table that you can move if you want.
I've travelled around the world over the years, and this campground is one of the most beautiful I have ever experienced. Been coming here for years. Brought my kids here many years as they grew up. It's a beautiful, well cared for campground with stunning views of the Bow River, and the Rocky Mountains all for $31 per night 2022 prices. It is 10 mins outside of Canmore, and 20 mins to Banff, and exactly 1 hours' drive from Calgary. Absolutely worth a visit and stay over. Playground: There is no playground area per se. It might be a good addition. There is a trail by the Bow River that is great to take the kids exploring. Hang out long enough, you might see the beaver or some of the bears that visit. Lol. Restrooms: Bring your own TP! It is supplied there, but it's paper thin and virtually useless. Love that they supply hand sanitizer in each stall. Way too smelly. It could be cleaned out more often. Dog-friendliness: Dogs are welcome here, on leash. Lots of dog owners come through here with their canine friends. Picnic area: There is no picnic area here for those passing through. But nothing to stop you from visiting the boat launch area, it's public space.
It's alright if you can get a spot further away from the highway, noise is unbearable at night. We switched sites on the second day, went to talk to the employee who was yapping away on the phone. She said " it's self serve, do it yourself." Went and did that and she came out and said "you have to tell me if you're switching campsites!". I did tell you, you unpleasant woman! Nice view I guess lol
This is a decent campground in the bow valley area that doesn't take site reservations. In the summer there are ALOT of mosquitoes so we avoided staying too long at the campground. It's somewhat expensive for a regular tent site with no services and no running water in the washrooms.
Great staff, excellent service, clean sites! Tenting close to highway was a bit noisy, but with the river so close it was worth it!
Very nice litte campground off the hwy. Hwy noise is there but not aweful, especially if you get a place right by the river it's so nice to wake up to. We had the best site, very clean and right by the water. The staff were amazing, nice little trail by the river, close to amenities if needed. We did our girls trip here for the weekend and I will be bringing my family back this summer. Great for kids as well!
Great little spot for short term camping. Couple of the sites have incredible views. The campground staff are super friendly and helpful.
Very nice maintained campground. Beautiful scenery and the staff were very friendly, even when there was a wildfire close by and evacuation on stand by. We spoke to Terry various times and she couldn't have been more friendly. The creek that runs by has various spots to go and relax next to the water. This site is 10 mins out of Canmore, coming from Calgary. We will for sure be back.
