It is sad that we are in a pandemic right now. The Whale Tea has good unique drinks which looks and taste good. A good example of which is the store namesake drink I ordered The Whale Tea Coconut Milk Base $6.99. Place also has a very chic and well designed interior. Theming along the wall decor is spot on. Chairs and matching tables are very cozy. I am hoping that the world goes back to normal so more people would be able to enjoy these little joys in life.
Ordered the Roasted Milk Tea with Grass Jelly. Was pricy, but tasted pretty good. The raisins and peanuts definitely added textures that I've never had previously at a bubble tea shop, albeit difficult to consume through the straw, as shown in the latter photo. Smaller pieces may help with this.
I really like the fact that their drink tastes very different from all the other bubble tea places. Their flavour is very unique and so far the service is great! I didn't chose the sugar level and you can tell it's not sugary at all! I also like the fact that a lot of their drink is decaf most bubble tea I had before has lots of caffeine due to tea's ingredient so I don't need to worry about drinking them at night. Will definitely come again.
I won two vouchers via Instagram for two beverages and/desserts from this new bubble tea spot! I couldn't stay in though I wanted to try their desserts they have souffle pancakes! So I opted for their drinks, takeout. The decor is really cute though, a lovely place to sit in and catch up with some friends! With COVID-19 being prominent, all the employees there were wearing masks I thought I would point this out, since some people freak out over this but it is a common practice in Asia and these employees were evidently such. I was greeted upon entering the store and the employee stood by the register area as I looked at the menu. I opted for THE WHALE TEA a coconut milk beverage with peach resin and butterfly pea flower to give it the blue color, as well as their PASSION FRUIT W/ PEACH RESIN as described, so good! Apparently peach resin is naturally made from peach trees and has benefits for you skin as it is high in collagen so it promotes skin moisture and elasticity! Both drinks were very tasty and I enjoyed that I didn't have to alter the sweetness since they were both the right level. Walking it, there were only two other customers sitting in; though actually, I think one was a friend or the employees there as I would guess from his mannerisms. Two other pairs of people did walk in after me though, as the wait for the drinks took about 10-15 mins. Reasons for the wait were a combination of them also fulfilling Ubereats/Skip The Dishes orders, they're not the most efficient I saw the employees eyeing the recipes on the wall as to how to make the drinks, which might be because they're still quite new, and two of the staff members were kind of fooling around in the back of house. However, I did appreciate that I was offered a bag to take my drinks. Service was friendly. Follow me on Instagram @oh.snap.vonny for more food reviews and photos!
I ordered peach oolong tea. It was really good. I didn't ask for sugar, cuz the jelly in it contains sugar This is the only place when I asked for “less ice” that actually only gives me a few cubes of ice! Love it! I hate when I say “less ice “ and got half cup of ice. It has a whale tail decor in store for photos.
Great place for bubble tea when you're in the downtown area. The Matcha Milk with the Mousse Foam on top is really good. and I tried THE WHALE TEA today, the coconut base was interesting in a good way and tasted very nice with the peach resin. The Staff here are all nice and helpful with ordering! I will be dreaming about this drink for awhile and hope to get back soon for more.
New Tea Shop that just opens on Yonge: worth to try cuz of the aesthetics of the shop and the drinks - pink, sapphire blue, charcoal black YOU NAME IT yet since the drinks got so many varieties to it, gotta be careful to pick ur fav one in general, a nice gem to hang and chill!
Me and my husband was around the area to pick up some food that we ordered and passed by this tea shop so we decided to check it out. It was our first time to check out this place. We entered the place, not a single "hello" or "I will be right with you" or any courtesy from a staff her name was Tanya she literally did not say anything for about 10mins we were just standing there and pretend she didn't see us.. is it because she was preparing some indoor customer order? But it doesn't matter from then on lack of customer service! And on top of that she never did apologized and the product was horrible! The one I would like to order was not even available. And my drink was not sealed properly and I had to go back and told her about it and she only removed the first sealed and then sealed it again 2nd time but it's still the same. She wanted to pour it to another cup and she said it won't be the same on what I ordered. It was the worst $6.20 of a boba milk. I will not be a returning customer as I am not very happy on what I experienced. The place was nice though but the service? WORST! I would stick to my chatime, just saying.
Tldr: wait way too long. server doesnt know her own menu. Nothing ready at 1230 on a Saturday. Pricier than other BBT shops. Screwed up order x2. Will not go back. Decided to drop in to this bubble tea shop as I was passing by. I wanted to initially order the Hong Kong style milk tea but the server didn't know what it was. When she finally figured it out I couldn't because apparently it wasn't ready yet. Okay sure I next ordered the panda roasted milk tea and asked for a large with no sugar. I paid for the bill And found out 5 minutes into the wait that there was no boba for the panda milk tea available. She didn't offer me anything in replacement of it either. I also noticed that she was making a small sized portion and had to correct her as I had paid for large. In the end we had to wait over 10 minutes for two drinks and in the end my zero sugar drink was waaaaay too sweet. For all these mishaps and the long wait I will not go back again.
What can I say, if your staff keep forgetting giving customers the toppings they've paid for, why offer this option? What is the point? Might as well list "annoyance" as your signature topping!
