Story

The Village Eatery is a new venture from local chef Steve Galloway. Chef Steve has extensive and well rounded experience cooking all types of cuisine at many resturants in Toronto and the tri-city area. Now he has come to the beautiful community of Hespeler to open his very own restaurant and make his favourite dishes for you.

The Village Eatery has great favourites like handmade burger and fries, fresh battered fish and chips, homemade chili, freshly prepared salads and fresh daily soup. We are also proud to continue the delicious shawarma wraps and rice dishes of Tops Shawarma; who have been a great help in starting off The Village Eatery.

PLEASE TRY Fish and chips is amazing. I haven’t been able to stop ordering it. I’ve gotten it 3 times for lunch this week. It’s honestly been so hard to try anything else on the menu which I’m sure is good because I’m so stuck on the fish and chips $10 on Friday. Tartar sauce is also amazing. I wish they sold little jars because I would totally pick one up.
A little restaurant in downtown Hespeler . Walking into this location I noticed that the decor is dated. The art pieces on the wall are nice. The service is okay, polite but not friendly. The burger and fries are good but not exceptional. The portions are generous and the menu is well priced. Overall tally: ambience: 2 stars service: 3 stars food quality: 4 stars
Love it here. Great service quick takeout and even better food. Portions are generous, and the menu has a good range of options. My new go to place for poutine. Fyi: They accept debit and cash only
Great local place- Steve will take care of you! He makes fresh food and works hard to provide fast and friendly service. His place is clean and organized and the menus great everything that I've tried is tasty and freshly made. Call ahead if you need at lunch hour it can get a little busy. Good to support local small business like the Village eatery.
Nice place to have a quick lunch in Hespeler. Good variety of sandwiches. We ordered the Baja Chicken Sandwich and the Pig Out Burger without the bun for low carb keto "cheat day". Everything was tasty. The chicken breast was juicy and well seasoned. The pulled pork and patty were also very tasty even without the bun so my fiancé says. Definitely will return to try the other menu items. Fish and chips in particular looked very good, and shawarma wrap. Staff was also friendly and easy to talk to. Not everyone understands "burger with no bun please", but he knew exactly what we wanted and gave us what we ordered, withOUT any confusion. *Note* also serves Kawartha ice cream and smoothies in warmer months. Oooooooooh! =>
The food here is delicious and Steve does a great job. I would highly recommend this place for some great burgers and poutine. I really loved his Greek burger - a lot of unique flavours but so tasty. My Wish List would include a taller bathroom ceiling and that he’d accept credit cards, but having said that he let me have a meal “on the house” as long as I could come and pay the next day which I did. Great job, Steve. You’re doing something right here.
Came here the other day at the recommendation of a few locals. I had the Shawarma Poutine. Firstly this is a 1 man operation, or at least I came there and he was by himself. Dont get caught out during lunch hour else youre in for a wait. Not good if youre rushing, but if you have the time then it's all good In my opinion the poutine was a bit too salty for my taste. Perhaps if the salt was less I wouldve enjoyed it Third, I dont know if he just slipped because of the rush, but I may have caught him not use gloves in preparing food after handling money. Not good in my eyes or in this pandemic, but I thought the food prep can be improved Id give this place another chance at another time. For now I'll be trying other local places.
Village Eatery in Hespeler Village Debit or Cash Only Ordered Traditional Poutine & Pop What nice fries. A very nice gravy. Cheese curds appear flavorless and just there. As far as canned soda there is little choice. Either Canada Dry Ginger Ale or Dr. Pepper. There is a Pop Shoppe fridge here though with several flavors to choose from. There are also several choices of glass bottled juices and Calypso drinks. Ample seating in the dining area.  Five 2-person tables and two 4-person tables. Food is very good. Excellent Fries.  Excellent gravy. Service polite and respectful however somewhat sterile.  Lacks warmth.
Had a great pulled pork poutine. Wish I had seen their full menu before! Lots of great eats there.
Had the Friday fish and chips special. Was fantastic... Will eat here again!!
