The restaurant is small in size but big on service and attention! Ross Derrick makes customers feel welcome. Although under minor renovations, the cafe is comfortable - the outdoor patio should be completed and open soon. They offer a daily/weekly special menu that looked very interesting and worth a try, but we were there for the fish & chips, so halibut & chips was the evening's order. My halibut was lightly battered, crisp and a nice thick piece of 'steak'...yes steak, that's how the halibut is, substance and form. I was impressed although I did find it a bit dry. chips were perfect, hand-cut and fresh. My wife ordered the fish tacos, she commented they could have been spicier. I would go back and try the cod next time and mussels (special).

Ross is a hometown hero. Seriously, this guy is the epitome of what it means to provide old school service. If you are there at the right time, you will see him walking around to each table talking with customers and providing information about the simple approach to their incredible food. If you are looking for a fantastic meal in a comfortable and casual atmosphere, look no further.

If you want an exceptional seafood dining experience, The Table at Codfathers is THE place to go. You know the catch is fresh when you see them pulling ingredients from the connecting seafood market next door! Taking pride in ethically sourcing their seafood and working with local fishermen is so admirable. They walk the talk too—down to details such as the paper straws to cut down on plastic. I've visited multiple times for all different occasions and party sizes. Ross and his team have always put in an incredible amount of care in the food and service. Ross (owner & head chef) can be seen visiting guests' tables to answer any questions. He can even tell you the origins of what you're eating—just ask! The restaurant space is small (can fit maybe 30 people) but is cosy and casual. I'd recommend making a reservation for the busy dining hours to get a spot. If you have a special occasion, custom menus are available with advanced notice. The last time we went, we had a party of 7 + 3 kids. Ross asked us if we had a budget in mind and worked together a list of dishes. We weren't too conservative with our spending but I was impressed that he was sensitive enough to ask. The amount of food we received was very generous, and the bill at the end was more than reasonable. I admit I was shocked it was less than what I thought it would be. We had oysters on the half shell, smoked trout ravioli, tempura avocado, and with crowd favourites: the prawn tacos and the epic snow crab platter (crab legs on mussels and clams) at the end. One guest, who was born in Mexico, said that it was the best taco she ever had! It was an educational experience for the kids too, as they had looked at the live crabs in the tank next door, then their dad showed them after they were cooked too. Big shout out to Michael and Aidan for working so hard, despite being short on staff that night. (Ross was shucking oysters for a charity event—can you blame him?!) Last, I'd like to mention that they have several different themed events throughout the year, so keep an eye on their Facebook page. There's everything from elegant 4 course, wine-paired meals to get-yer-fingers-dirty, Louisiana-style prawn boils. I haven't done the latter, but it sounds super fun! Even if you stop by for their regular menu, you won't be disappointed, no matter what you choose!
