Went here for a staff Christmas party. We have had many Christmas parties here over the years. And it was always good except for this year. The buffet ran out of food before everyone in our group had even gotten a first serving of food. And six of the people we were expecting didn’t make it. They said they would substitute the brisket that ran out for sirloin but it was a terrible cut of meat that appeared to just be thrown in the microwave and then they drizzled liquid smoke on it. So not only was the texture like chewing leather but it wasn’t edible due to so much liquid smoke being poured all over it. When we complained to the manager, who was an extremely rude older lady with an accent she said she felt that some people in our group had taken more then their fair share and that it was basically our fault they ran out of food before everyone even had a first serving. For a buffet that was booked long in advance I would expect that they should be able to make sure we had at least enough food for our entire group. I would recommend to everyone booking for large groups such as staff functions or Christmas parties to think twice before doing it at the StEugene. And I hope that the Smokehouse at the St. Eugene Reviews how they prepare for large groups and perhaps find a manager that can actually run a restraunt.
Went for breakfast on a Saturday morning. Very limited menu. Wife had the omelette I had simple scrambled eggs and sausage. Omelette was nicely plated but lacked flavor. Scrambled eggs and sausage was served in a bowl?? Odd and fussy to cut sausages when in a bowl. Sausage was tasty. Have been to the Misson several times because we enjoy the grounds and the historic building. Unfortunately the food offerings and quality are and have been sliding over recent times. Too bad but unable to recommend right now. Perhaps lunch and dinner offerings are better?
I too was at the Christmas party with the other reviewer Chris. His review is spot on and I really don't need to elaborate other than to say I certainly hope these people get their act together. If our business ran this way, it wouldn't be long before it was in trouble.
