We haven't been to The Shakespear Arms in quite some time, but the wife and I thought we'd dine here recently. The atmosphere is great, warm and cozy and you really do feel like you're in a rustic tavern. Pretty neat. Everything about our evening was great. Only minor complaint is that it took some time for the waitress to greet us and take our drinks orders. The food quality and portions were good. We found the calamari to be a little too crispy, but maybe that's the style here. Jambalaya and Chicken Wrap were great. We'll come back next time when there's Live music.
Nice atmosphere and good service. Due to the pandemic the menu has become shorter but still there was a good choice. Food was excellent. Loved the Yorkie. Had a great time.
Wonderful lunch visit with my son yesterday in an uncrowded space at a table for two by a window where warm sunshine poured through. Light lunch took over 1/2 hour to prepare. Luckily we had lots to talk about. Food was tasty.
We had drinks and dinner. I had the roast beef Yorkie, and my husband had the fish and chips. The atmosphere was a traditional pub-style. Service was good. Food was acceptable.
This was our first visit in almost 20 years and it didn't disappoint. Went with 2 other couples for a casual night out. Warm pub atmosphere including the fireplace. Menu full of comfort food and the taps full of good beer. To this day Shakespeare's stands as a solid go to for a good night of food and friends.
Amazing place. Fish and chips is delicious, but if you want a quiet place, it's not for you. At least on Saturday evening :
Nice place, good atmosphere and great beer selection. Came here for dinner and was pleasantly surprised. We had to wait initially for service as they were busy, but after that everything was good.
Amazing place amazing food. Went for the super bowl, I don't even watch football. But the service and food was amazing! Gotta go back when they have the full menu they had less due to the SB excited to go back
I went to Guelph with the family. We stayed a the Delta Hotel and notice that there was a pub close by. It was boxing day so we checked on-line to see the hours to make sure they were open. It said open til 10pm. It was before 8pm, so we made our way over. When we got there the front doors were locked. This seemed weird because we could see people inside. The front door had a hand written sign that even said boxing day open til 10pm Then a car pulled up and a guy jumped out and he was confused about the doors being locked too. He said he has friends inside and that he would call them. Sure enough one of his friends came to the door and opened it. We walked in and the wait staff seemed upset that we got in the pub. I questioned why the door was lock and they said that if it wasn't busy they could close early. The pub was half full and I thought how can it become busy if the doors are locked. I even pointed out that they have a sign on the door stating there hours. Well we got seated and ordered food. It was wing night. The wings were just ok. The service was terrible, because I guess the staff wanted to go home. Find some staff that wants to work. I have been in many pubs, this décor was very old and needed to be freshened up. I will never go back to this place.

Portion was decent sized - Fries weren’t crispy or crunchy. They tasted old and soggy. And the gravy didn’t taste fresh or homemade. -Beer was great! Other comments: - I don’t think we will be back again. The food is great for a student who hasn’t had a home cooked meal in a year. - Biggest tap selection in the area - Very friendly server - Seated quickly during dinner hours 6pm - Convenient location with lots of parking - Big menu, lots of selection - Rustic restaurant, they kept much of the old structure and atmosphere Instagram ID: @anjav3 Anja Vojinovic
