The Shaker Heritage Society
"The Shaker Heritage Society is proud to provide tours and educational programming, while keeping the legacy of the Shakers alive in the world today. One of the primary ways we do that is through our Craft Fairs and annual Holiday Market. In addition to our Fairs and fun educational activities for kids, we offer one of the most beautiful barn wedding venues in Albany. Call us today for more information."

Five stars! Great free outdoor museum with maps that talk about the history and the buildings. They also have a convenient phone tour. On top of that, there is an EV charger right at the pond, which is free! Highly recommended.
I had a wonderful time visiting this beautiful historical site. The staff was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, sharing fascinating stories about the Shakers' history. If you have the chance, be sure to also visit the nearby Shaker cemetery, which is a truly unique and meaningful experience.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNoPrice for adult entryFree
Great space to walk around in any weather. They also have art shows and other events. Have been coming here for a while and it's a great place to bring out of town guests as it is a nice spot to walk around for all ages & abilities! They have craft fairs and many vendors come out, great space!Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNot surePrice for adult entryFree
We stopped by the Heritage Society's craft fair. They had over 90 craft vendors. It was well laid out and easy to peruse the merchandise. There was a wide variety of quality items to choose from. Well-worth the trip.
My husband and I were severely disappointed as there was only 1 building open with just 1 small room with a very small amount of information, the rest was dedicated to a craft fair. When a place labels itself a museum, there should be much more historical content.Wait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNoPrice for adult entryFree
A nice gift purchased from one of the 95 vendors featured there right now.
Totally recommend visiting this preserved Shaker community. Special thanks to Lorraine who took us on a private tour and offered us a wonderful explanation of what life was like in the community all the way from the 1700's until when it finally closed, stopping by the meeting house, the herb garden, the barn and the lodging house from the outside. Recommend going on a guided tour if available. The gift shop is lovely as well. We bought one of the little Shaker brooms of course. : Last of all, there is an easy hike you can take around the pond and through the trees. Prepare for a visit of 2 to 3 hours to get everything out of it.
My girlfriend and I went to their semi-annual craft show. They had 75 vendors, all sorts of different kinds of nice things, all at pretty good prices. My girlfriend found a few nice things, and as for me, not so much??? We have a couple of crafty friends there, and if you like to talk, some vendors are quite friendly. We had to rush around the back area because we were talking so much!!! It was a very nice day for it too. You got to go and check it out!!! And BTW...it would be nice if they had longer hours...for us "late risers" and "busy housekeepers"?Thanks!!!
Stop by if you are visiting the Albany airport. A small exhibition space and a few remaining buildings to admire. Get a broom from the gift shop.
A lot of walking...had a good time. Could not get what were were looking for. It was beautiful day Parking was a bit far with gravel!
