I'm finally able to leave a review for my wedding that took place here in December 2022. Tiffany was supposed to be my wedding coordinator from when I booked in 2020. 2 weeks before my wedding, she let me know she would be on vacation and gave me a random woman I had never met. The day of my wedding, it had snowed about 5 inches and was supposed to be outside, no matter the weather. The coordinator who doesn't even work there anymore told me to bring it inside to which I agreed, this was at 10am roughly with the ceremony at 3pm. When I arrived from hair and makeup, everything was smooth. I did not see my coordinator at all and had questions. I found her in the reception area having a panic attack of some sort. She then said she had to leave and gave me a super random server, claiming her to be my 'new coordinator'. This 'new coordinator' brought my ceremony inside on the porch and left it set for dinner claiming 'it can't be unset'. If my friend and officiant at the time didn't work there, it would've been a disaster. The team at Settlers never put out my picture station, stole my vase I brought for props, threw away my cake topper which was personal and a gift. My cake was also wrong and disgusting while falling off the table. They kept 80% of my favors and decor I worked for months on in the back kitchen. We had glass shatter on the dance floor twice and no staff came to help, so my guests had to pick it up by hand. The only way I didn't have a mental breakdown was because of my wonderful DJ and photographer. The 'coordinator' never came back or appeared again after 4pm. I would never ever recommend having a wedding here, ESPECIALLY if you previously worked there. I had reached out to multiple higher ups about my experience, and I was told by a previous worker 'not to answer her because she used to work here and got married for cheap'. It's not the point, the point was I spent all hard earned 6k of my money for my once in a lifetime wedding for it to be in shambles. I'm glad my guests had a great time but I sure didn't. I will always look back at my wedding as a disaster of a day because of The Settlers Inn. To top it off, I called Tiffany the day after to express my disappointment and she was super rude and told me it was my fault it was a disaster.
We celebrated my birthday there on July 2nd, and we just had their Tuesday burger special, which is such a bargain. You get a huge burger, fries, and a beer, all for $15.nThe atmosphere is fabulous.
My wife and I stayed recently for a birthday weekend. Really enjoyed Hawley and the Settlers Inn! The included hot breakfast was very good. There's a small cozy bar in the lobby for refreshment. Everyone there was very friendly and helpful with questions about the area. Rooms are a bit dated part of the charm, it's a historic inn after all. We didn't try the restaurant for lunch or dinner but heard it was very good there's inside and outside seating. Downtown Hawley is small but within easy walking distance for grabbing a coffee, snacks or a bite to eat without having to get in the car. The garden behind the inn is great for a stroll or just to relax in the various seating areas. Overall, our visit to Settlers Inn exceeded expectations, highly recommended! As a side note - after our stay, we forgot an item in the room which was discovered by the cleaning staff and turned in. Settlers Inn promptly called and arranged to mail it back to us. Great service!
I have gone to the restaurant here starting over 30 years ago when it was the best place in the area- it was great then. I revisited it this past weekend and am saddened to see that the restaurant has gone down hill. The service was slow - drinks took forever and I think our salads were forgotten until we asked for them. Once they came, the Caesar salads were awful with subpar greens, stale tasting croutons and hardly any dressing. The tap water for the table had an awful chemical taste to it. Our main meals filet, pasta were just ok... Don't get me wrong, it's a beautiful place to see with a very nice lobby but the restaurant has gone down hill which has sadly been confirmed to me by others in the area. I don't like giving poor reviews but I have to be honest.
Picked this place on a lark as it was a way point on our return from a Cleveland to Pittsburgh to Fallingwater trip.nnWOW! What a gem. A fantastic hotel with Arts & Craft design, each room furnished with Stickley or pre-production Stickley furniture. Fantastic grounds. Wonderful, accommodating staff. We're already planning a return trip. It is a place I wish I could retire to.
