The Rice Box

This was one of the only Chinese restaurants we could find in Vernon, and we were hoping it would be more authentic. We were very let down by the food as it did not taste authentic at all. Everything from the chow mein to the rice to the meat... We didn't like anything at all. It lacked flavor. It lacked authentic Chinese taste. The sauces were so watery and runny. The best way I could describe this place is if a non-Asian tried to open up a Chinese restaurant. The only pros here are the large portions and the super nice staff. Keep in mind that there is no dine in at this restaurant and everything is take out.

I ordered the Spicy Basil special with the beef option for meat, and there was no meat in it, only vegetables and rice. I was really disappointed when I got home and found out. I was exhausted so I really didn't want to go back to the store to resolve it. So I just ate it and went to bed. Maybe I just won't buy food here anymore. Because it would be inconvenient to open the box and check in the car if I got what I ordered before I drive home.

Service was good but the food was terrible. Chow mein was dry and bland. Sweet and sour pork was just overcooked and chewy bits of meat drowned in pineapple juice. Definitely not worthy of the tip I left.

If you want Chinese food in a box like the movies? This is the spot! Their light boxes are good, the chow mein is the best in town, and they don't play with their meals for one. The style of food isn't for everyone, but if it's yours, this is a solid choice. Their online ordering services are good, and they have a pick up service where they bring the food out to you. Note: this place does Western Chinese food, so if you're looking for "authentic" Chinese cuisines, you're probably going to be disappointed.

Great food! Ricebox dinners are our favourite. And run by the nicest family you will ever meet.

The food was gross plain and I'm telling u know the ginger beef is not ginger beef it's beef cuts put in gravy lol like where u learn ginger beef cook go back to school but ya not recommended unless u like knock of rice box and for the price get a grip what a rip off if u want plain food and cold this is the place to go well done great name ur making for yourself guess u don't read your review much lol shut them down that pic is ginger sauce lol taste like scallops and fish

It was okay, the chow mein was dry and the spring rolls were average. But the lemon chicken was really good. Good portion sizes.

Surprised to see some uncomplimentary reviews. I’ve been going there for almost a decade and their sesame chicken is to die for. Big chunks of lightly battered chicken with their signature sauce. It’s the first dish I tried and have never ordered anything else!

I love the food selections the have, i like most specially their sweet and sour chicken the best for me.
