I have grown up in Deep Cove and have amazing memories of going to the Raven. I still go regularly. The last few years the quality of their pizza for take out has been very hit and miss. The dine in seems fine. It has bothered me that their pizza price was a premium and has always been worth the extra price. Lately the quality for take out has been horrible. I have included a picture of the Raven Special that had almost no toppings. I tried to call to let them know how dissatisfied their pizza was. No reply. I left a message and have waited a week just to hear anything back. I highly recommend eating and drinking at the Raven but will give them a bug thumbs down on take out for the last year. ***Update Thank you Ashleigh for your reply. I have emailed you twice at the email address you asked me to and you have not replied. I am getting take out tonight but will be ordering from another local establishment for the foreseeable future. Hopefully you get things back in order soon.
My husband and I used to really love coming to Raven’s Pub for pizza and beers. We hadn’t been in for a while, but decided to stop in today as we were in the area. We learned that the pub is now owned by new owners - all I can say is that they’ve really dropped the ball on the quality of their food. We ordered two pizzas which each cost $20+. We used to have no problem paying this price as we were receiving a really great pizza, loaded with fresh ingredients, and super large in size. Today, however, these pizzas were entirely different from the ones we’d ever had. They were honestly really terrible - little to no toppings, a strange processed cheese taste, really small in size. I honestly could have made this pizza for less than $5 at home. You cannot charge a premium price for a product like this, as it’s not a premium product. Needless to say, we were really disappointed with our visit and will definitely not be returning to Ravens. It really sucks as we used to really love this place, and know that the previous owners had created a really great legacy in the Deep Cove area. Big improvements need to be made to either their products or pricing.
Have been out to the Raven twice now since it reopened its doors. Absolutely fantastic, cosy bar. Staff are friendly and helpful and the Guinness is top notch
Great restaurant. I would highly recommend visiting the place. We were lucky to be served by Dylan. Ask for him if you visit. Top class service. He really looked after us and made it feel like home. 5/5
Hard not to be jaded after being served a piece of fish about the size of half a hot dog wiener, on a plate of soggy fries. It was barely $5 worth of food, if you count the Costco slaw, and getting charged $25 for it after tip. The menu actually doesn't mention you have to pay extra for a second 'piece of fish'. Seems emblematic of the Vancouver casual food scene where they try to get away with the smallest portion possible while charging gourmet prices. Looked at my friends' plates who ordered burgers, and we could honestly do a way better job at home. Skip the food menu when you go there. Read other reviews about this place and someone had the exact same experience a month ago, despite getting a response from the management on their review. Again, can't help but feel jaded.
Stopped in for their “Raven” burger, with upgrades to fries: truffle and sweet potato. It’s definitely a good burger, juicy and tasty, though you are paying $20 for it. Truffle fries: nothing special. Sweet potato fries: not visually as appealing, decent, though you get much less. Lettuce wrap option with sauces on the side: great! Spacious seating outside.
First time back in the Raven since the refurb. Looked very similar except they have removed the fire pit and now have a pool table. Service was efficient and friendly and drinks on draught were good. Biggest let down was the menu and quality of food. A limited variety and lack of choice. For example, they no longer do pizzas, any type of chicken burger or veggie burger option on the menu. They did a kids menu which was not printed out so the waiter listed the options. Very limited also with no burger or vegetarian option. The waitress explained they were hoping to expand the menu in the future. I was willing to overlook this until my food arrived. I had the cod and chips 1 piece for $21.00. I was asked if I would like to upgrade to two pieces of fish which I was told was cod. I said no as I thought one piece would be enough as I was not fully hungry. Big mistake! I was expecting/hoping it to be similar to the food previously had at the Raven before the refurb. However, I was extremely disappointed! The food arrived in good time but what they served me was poor to say the least. The chips were dry and bland like they were out of a frozen bag and cooked under an oven for too long. The piece of fish was microscopic. It was thin and narrow and looked more like a fish finger than a proper fish portion. The tartar sauce was warm and uninviting. The red cabbage on the plate looked so sorry for itself I did not even go there. After finishing the meal I was left totally unsatisfied with what I had just eaten. I did not goto the Raven with an intention of writing a review but was so disappointed with their food I felt I had a responsibility to share my experience and hopefully if the Raven owner sees it will take note and do something about it. I will go to the Raven again but only for a drink. I am sorry to say the food was the worst I have had either eaten in or taken out in a long time. Such a let down as I was excited about returning to a place which was renowned for serving good pub food.
Worst food I've had anywhere. 'Arancini' was simply sushi rice rolled, breaded and deep fried, ate half on one and the rest were taken away at the end. Tomato soup was watery and curdled with no flavor and three bowls were sent back. Friends had fries that arrived cold. Chicken tenders called something else were so overcooked that the meat was dry. The redeeming quality was the waiter was a nice guy and the soup was taken off the bill
I paid $21 for the smallest, driest piece of fish I'd ever eaten. 1/3 of it was kind of crunchy, somehow... Two others in my party also had the fish and chips, and apart from the coleslaw tasting very bland truly; it was cabbage that had given the side-eye to some vinegar... had no complaints about the fish. I was very hungry, and too dispirited to complain, so I ate it. But I don't think that I'll be going back any time soon. Disappointing.
So glad to see The Raven back open again. A lovely cosy neighbourhood pub.Stopped in last week to sample their now menu. I must say every was top notch. Check it out if you are in the area !!!!
