This is a solid place to get food. They have a 'trendy' menu with lots of vegetarian options and classics like open face turkey sandwiches. they have a pretty decent draft beer selection too, with options from all of the major local breweries. There is also a patio that is great for catching some afternoon rays while you have dinner.

The Old Post is on my list for best restaurants in Missoula. Their brunch on the weekends is truly a pleasure and their dinner food is equally good. This is an American food, hole-in-the-wall joint that's just really comfortable to eat at on a weekday or weekend.
(Seriously, go here for brunch. It's worth it!)

Grew up in Missoula, and this is my favorite bar. Great food. Best fish and chips I've ever had (make sure to ask for tartar). Oh yeah, their on tap beers always satisfy. Can't recommended them enough.

I usually love the old post so much. A lot of good memories and drinks have been had there! However, my last few experiences have been so weird. A couple of nights ago, we went there on a Friday night at 11:30pm. It was relatively slow, with just a couple other groups in. The waitstaff/bartender seemed super annoyed we were there. My drink was made incorrectly, which was frustrating, but I didn't want to complain or be rude. A few minutes after getting our drinks, the waitress came over and asked us if we planned to order a second drink because they were going to close in 20 minutes. We asked if they usually closed at midnight on a Friday, but she said no, they were just deciding to close because it was slow. When she brought the check, and my incorrectly made drink was rang up at $9.50, I asked her if they had changed the recipe (there were chunks in my drink). She said they had, and offered to refund the drink, since I hadn't drank any. Then, the bartender proceeded to shout throughout the bar that my drink was made right, and that they are always made that way etc. Also, when the bartender went out for his smoke break, he finished his cigarette as he walked in, blowing the smoke into the restaurant! All in all it was a super weird experience, and sadly, I won't be going back for a long while.
