Story

Moose’s Cookhouse.....

Welcome to Moose’s Cookhouse...a.k.a “The Moose” or if you really want to get technical Moose’s Loose Change Lodge!

Like all good things, it all began with an idea.....In 1996, when the owner and still the current owner Chris White wanted to create a place that would reflect the beauty of Northern Ontario with a great outdoor adventure.

Since the beginning The Moose has been located in the Heart of Downtown North Bay. Just a stone’s throw from major landmarks, such as C.P. Rail yards, heritage museums, and of course our beautiful Lake Nipissing that is our secret link to history in Canada.

Downtown was the perfect spot to turn a brick building into a Log Cabin, a spot made for the first explorer Jacques Cartier to stop with his team to rest, and enjoy a cold pint of brew and our now FaMoose Chicken Wings and Smokehouse Ribs.

At The Moose we allow you to explore your senses while finishing your work day in our laid back atmosphere. Our friendly staff are sure to make you feel at home, and the aromas of true Canadian cooking will great you at the door. With 120 ways to serve a chicken wing we are sure you will return again and again.

Aside from the outdoors there was another thing Chris was interested in was sports. To this day we dedicate ourselves to the great Canadian Game of Hockey. Every Saturday night starting at 7pm we have all 10 TV’s and 2 Large projector screens showing a true Canadian pastime - Hockey Night in Canada. As the famous song begins on the surround sound, and the lights are turned down we are proud to enjoy such a sport with our families. After all, it is the Gateway to the Great White North.

But hockey isn’t all we show at The Moose. We have been successful with showing the career of other great Canadian athletes like George St.Pierre in the UFC. We show every Pay Per View event and are registered with Canadastar Boxing to bring these shows to you.

So whether it’s a frozen pond, an octagon, a diamond, a court or a field we are sure to be showing The Big Game.

Even if you're not a wing lover, our menu has something for everyone. From giant burgers with Canadian flare to “AAA” steaks, wraps to salads, fish, and soups. We could go on and on, but its best if you checkout our menu and find your own favourites. Although you can’t cook it over an open campfire, the warmth of our cozy booths will ensure you are there.

After a busy day, a long week, a great game or a fantastic show, head downtown to the Moose. We're ready to show you what a Northern Ontario atmosphere and Canadian hospitality are all about. We have a campsite ready for you!

Driving through town on labour day Monday. They were open and our dog was allowed on the patio. They brought him a bowl of water. The food was excellent. We had a smash burger Greek salad, Buffalo wrap and fries. Recommend
So, food was fantastic. Good food, server at first, ooph, thought she was standoffish; however, not at all the case. She checked in with me the right amount of times and asked all the usual questions. That's all fine.nWHAT! Gives it the five star solid from me is the server, admittedly the restaurant was a little slower, so, we chatted for a bit and she ended up showing me around and the atmosphere was amazing. It's what all these new or remodeled restaurants are missing. Culture, history, esthetics. I will 100% be back, because the server was amazing and because I want to be there. It felt like home and it was my first visit. Should my opinion change, I'll update but for now. Solid place to eat and enjoy the atmosphere.
Long story short.nLove the wings here and have been going to the moose for over a decade.nOrdered takeout for my first time tonight, big mistake.nMissing items on my order which is no big deal, mistakes happen.nCalled to tell them about it and they sent over a driver with the missing items.nAfter telling them my address over 3 times over 3+ different phone calls not including the first call about my order. They showed up, handed me my food, without saying a word, with a nasty look on there face, and walked away, as i said thank you for driving over the missing items.nMost definitely the worst customer service I have had and i will definitely not be ordering takeout from here again. Greats wings bump them up to 2 stars!
I had the worst experience last night. The security staff displayed blatant racism and treated me with extreme rudeness. If you don't want people to dance freely, you should just shut down the club.nnWe pay money to get in, and in return, we were treated like absolute trash. It's outrageous to experience such discrimination in this day and age. The security team was not only unprofessional but also showed a clear bias, making me feel unwelcome and uncomfortable.nnIf you're looking for a place to enjoy your night out, avoid at all costs. They clearly don't care about their customers and allow their staff to behave inappropriately. Save your money and find a club that respects its patrons.
Ordered the swiss and mushroom burger, bottom bun was so soggy it turned to liquid and you couldn't pick up the burger, topping where very messy and did not look appealing at all, came with one small tomatoe slice that didnt even cover whole burger, lettuce was yellow. Side salad came with dressing open and half spilled throughout the container.
