Finally, I had the chance to try the famous butter tarts from The Maid's Cottage. It is simply delicious. It is worth it to cross the city. The tarts are really special, taste so good, so fresh. Definitely, it is the best butter tart ever. All the different flavors make it even better. The lady who works there is such a nice person. The only problem is that the store is too busy, but I understand. Everyone wants the same nice things as me. Nice places usually are very busy.
A wonderful bakery centred on selling butter tarts in the heart of Main Street, Newmarket. The buttery smell of warm tarts hits you as soon as you open the door. The bakery is nicely laid out with a counter in the front displaying all of the goods. They don’t only sell tarts, they do also feature caramel apples, various squares and take-home goods. I got a half-dozen box of assorted tarts. They are a little pricy, however they are so worth it! One box of 6 tarts is $21 before tax. My personal favourites were the pecan and carrot cake tart. Best butter tarts I’ve ever had. Pecan has become my favourite flavour after having it here. No wonder it won the award for best butter tart. It is worth the drive!
The pecan butter tarts that we had for a breakfast with coffee was a amazing. These pecan tarts are so GOOD, a definite must try.

You know, I just can't seem to understand this place completely. They are open for limited times and not on any Sundays too I would guess they would make good money on Sundays right down on the main st? Then they still aren't allowing anyone to eat inside their place still? Only takeout and outside seem strange still. On a plus note, they do sell a great butter tart still.
Love Maids Cottage, this is a local go-to for butter tarts & pie shells. They have a lot of other delicious goodies. The staff are always friendly. I do miss the dinning room for breakfast but if it makes more sense to keep it as a take out/bakery only establishment I'm good with that.Food: 5/5
This Place has All the homemade comforts done with simplistic decadence. From their Famous Buttery tarts in flavor combinations you've never expected, to thier lovingly made take home premade meal options guaranteed to please everyone in the family, The Maid's Cottage is a Staple Gem to Newmarket's downtown district and a MUST visit for Any local or visitors who want to experience a Classic taste of Tradition at it's finest.
I respect this place has been around forever and is the jewel of Newmarket. Sausage rolls are fabulous. I used to stop by and order their brownies which I thought the best I ever had. After not being there for a few years, I've surprised recently to see they have changed them they now resemble cupcakes and they are now in a plastic clam shell packaging. Don't look homemade at all. The brownie still tastes the same although it's extremely thick and the icing is not what I remember falls off top of brownie, dry. They seem to be prepackaged in fours or twelve minis. I was so disappointed, they look mass produced and I don't understand why they changed them from the traditional squares with much less packaging. Unfortunately I will not be picking up brownies here again.
Honestly probably the best butter tarts that I have ever had. They get a perfect 5 for me!!! Great customer service and even better tarts. Delicious
