The Lakeside Loft

Our family has stayed here 2 times; once in the Sun Studio, once in the Ledge Studio, both times LOVED IT! The owners are friendly and accommodating, we felt as though we were visiting old friends. We enjoyed both rooms and were comfortable. The views were beautiful from every window. We played the Maine Monopoly game and read when it was rainy. We took advantage of the paddle boat, kayaks and swimming in the lake when it was sunny. We cooked meals in the ample kitchen of the Ledge Studio, and walked up to the Post Office Cafe when we didn't feel like cooking. I recommend Lakeside Loft to everyone I tell about our vacations in Maine.

This place is heavenly. Every room has big windows with gorgeous views of the lake and/or waterfall. In summer you will often see the nesting pair of loons swim by while teaching their chick(s) how to fish. In winter the views are equally beautiful, just monochromatic. The immediate village and wider area have outdoor activities aplenty for every season. Swimming, boating, sunbathing, hiking, walking, maple tapping, snowshoeing, iceskating (on the lake just outside your bedroom) and skiing (in nearby Farmington, Bethel, or Kingfield). Wayne and Christine can help get you outfitted and pointed in just the right direction for you. Of if you prefer, you can get yourself restored and refreshed with a book in the hammock by the stream, an adirondack chair by the lake, or a board game or deck of cards inside. This is a great place to slow down, relax, contemplate, and explore.

I've stayed at The Lakeside Loft several times in the past few years, and have always found it to be beautiful, peaceful and relaxing. I particularly love sleeping (soundly) in the Stream Studio to the sounds of the waterfall. Other favorites include: napping in the hammock next to the waterfall, kayaking adventures around the lake, working on my computer in the air chair on the porch and hiking up Mt. Blue. Right now, I'm especially looking forward to staying in the newly completed Ledge Studio with a group of girlfriends! Thanks so much to Wayne and Chris for creating this wonderful environment!!!
