Whisperwood Lodge & Cottages

5 of us came up for the first time on a mancation June 2017. The fishing was great, people were friendly, and food was great. When your looking at the menu for breakfast and we asked what choices we can have and the server says" you can have whatever you want on the menu", then your at the right place. We rented a boat and that was great also. We read the negative comments like most do before we came but we chose to form our own opinion and are happy we did. I will say this as far as the rules comments we did not see any rules that weren't already common sense. The food was the same. Not sure you set the correct expectations for yourself because this was a lodge not a restaurant. The food was great for the price. The strict meal time comment probably needs to remember that these people are working 7 days a week from minimum 7am to 6pm and living on site to handle / answer issues. Breakfast is at 8am and diner at 5 so I feel my 7 to 6 is pretty generous cause it is probably more 6am to 8 pm. In short no one's opinion matters, not even mine so I would check it out for yourself and form you own opinion.

Our weekend mancation experience was great. Camron and Renee are the most accommodating people I have ever dealt with. Everything was super clean, the food was great, and the fIshing excellent. This is just as advertised. A top notch all inclusive fishing lodge. if you are looking to take the family to the four seasons, this is not your place but if you are looking for a rustic, quiet, camp atmosphere, you just found the four seasons of the outdoor world. The five of us, (3 adults and 2 teenage boys), had a blast and will definitely be back.

We came in June and are back again this week. My husband loves the fishing. I enjoy the peaceful serenity, the beauty and the lovely lakeside setting. We both love the food and the boating.

Not a great experience. Had been coming for years, but things have gone way down hill. The cabins are very run down and need at least a coat of paint and new screens to say the least. Bites all night long - hopefully from mosquitos coming in through the ripped screens (although I feel it could have also been from Bed Bugs (yikes)). Food is good, but it's the same thing over and over. It's also served on a very strict time schedule. Don't be late for breakfast or dinner or you'll go hungry. We arrived at the later end of the breakfast time frame and were greeted with distain. Lunch is a cheap bad sandwich - a big letdown when you are starving in the middle of the lake and looking forward to eating. You are better off renting a cabin and cooking what you want, when you want it. Also, we were repeatedly scolded by management for making too much noise. My daughter was just playing like any normal kid. The owners grandson and his friends were actually making most of the noise, but we got yelled at. Imagine being a paying customer and constantly being scolded for a vacation you paid out the nose for. This is not a good place to stay. With so many other choices around and so many other lakes in the region, please get your money's worth and enjoy your vacation by choosing elsewhere.

We have been coming to Whisperwood for many years. The owners and their family are such gracious hosts. They always go out of their way to make sure we have a wonderful stay, they go to great lengths to make sure their guests are happy. The grounds are beautifully maintained as are the rustic cabins. The cabins are immaculate and always have been as long as the McCafferty's have been the owners. While we were there we got to stay in Overlook with it's brand new beds and completely redone bathroom! Every year we go they've upgraded something. The meal times are not overly strict at all. The McCafferty's exceptional staff go out of their way to make sure we can get out on the lake early with continental breakfast bright and early with hot coffee and a warm slice of fresh banana bread if we need. If not, we arrive for breakfast and boy oh boy is that amazing. We love the Homemade Oatmeal! Lunches are prepared taking careful consideration to not have the bread get mushy and they have the best Egg Salad! I am stuffed after lunch they give me so much food in my cooler. Dinner time has been 5pm for the many years we've been frequenting Whisperwood. The majority of the guests through the years have no problem arriving in a timely fashion. And if we are a little behind, we are never denied our meal. It might need to be warmed up but it's just as delicious and they are happy to accommodate us. Their homemade desserts and Sundaes are beyond generous in proportion. We recommend the Whisper Biscuit with Mint Choc. Chip Ice Cream. We love it!
