Located on scenic Lake Waramaug, The Hopkins Inn is a traditional country inn with lodging, and also restaurant serving contemporary Austrian cuisine.
The Hopkins Inn offers a unique outdoor dining experience, overlooking Lake Waramaug. Its chefs prepare contemporary Austrian cuisine from March to January. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served during this time. A Mid-Afternoon menu is available from Memorial Day to Labor Day. In addition to our regular menus, each day there are appetizer, entree and dessert recommendations. We have a special gluten free menu, and many of our regular items may be prepared gluten-free upon request. A children's menu is available for young guests. A full bar service is accompanied by an extensive wine list.
The Hopkins Inn has eleven rooms and two apartments available year round. Many of our rooms look out directly on the lake, and all are climate controlled. Also, we offer WiFi in every room.
What would become the Inn started in 1781, when Elijah Hopkins purchased this property from Mason Cogswell. Some 70 years later, Elijah's descendant, Deacon William Hopkins built a summer boarding house, which over time evolved into the building you now see. Innkeepers Beth and Franz Schober & Toby Fossland have been welcoming guests to the Inn for the last 36 years.
