The Grumpy Minnow Restaurant & Pub

Grumpy has been hit and miss in the past. Either you get great service, but the food takes forever and seems just okay, or you get great tasting food and the service is non-existent. Our recent visit was a pleasant experience with both great service and great food! I feel like Grumpy is a hidden gem in the north. My friends from the cities would think I was crazy driving further into the woods and lakes to eat out. The fact is, with so few really great locally owned restaurants in the area , Grumpy Minnow is easily among the top five. I have tried many of the different menu items and they are flavorful, fresh and just the right portions. There is the consistency problem though. I know that they have been challenged with ownership turnover and limited staffing options. Despite this, the food is good enough that we keep coming back and that says a lot!

After we got there three other tables were seated, they were all served before us. My son asked about our order. The waitress said for some reason our order didn't seem to go to the kitchen. In the meantime the other tables had eaten. We weren't offered a discount for the mess up. The food was good though.

Great service. I had the walleye Benedict and my partner had an omelet. The server was super personable and happy. Everything was on point.
