The Flats Bistro

This place. I don't even have the words. EXCELLENT staff who not only made me feel warm and welcome, but they even remembered my name and "usual" after a year of being away. The food is better than just about anything you can find in "the big city" of Anchorage, let alone anywhere else on the Peninsula. And the ambiance is always pleasant and relaxing. I cannot recommend this place enough.

Great place to go with friends/family or date night. Love this place also had live music, a guy playing piano. Which made it more enjoyable I appreciated that!

I've eaten at The Flats a number of times and each visit found me with a full, happy belly and food still on the plate. One of the awesome things about the restaurant is that a lot of the food is produced and purchased locally. Huge kudos to Luke for his hospitality, a gorgeous establishment, supporting the local economy and for offering a diverse, tasty menu. If you aren't from Kenai, grab yourself a window table if available and enjoy a stunning view with a great meal.

The food was very good, though I didn't feel full after finishing my meal. To be fair, I had ordered the scallops, which is typically a small portion, but it would have been nice to have a substantial side to better complement them. The apple beat chutney appetizer was amazing, I strongly recommend trying it.

Good food and good atmosphere, a bit expensive for what you get and slow to get plates out. But they were upfront about it, I was told 20-30 minutes to prepare a chicken dish. I'd still recommend it, just plan on spending more time and money to eat there.
