The Emperor

My exploration of restaurants in Durham continued at The Emperor in Ajax. Apparently, they opened early last year but I haven't heard of them before now. Their menu seems to have typical pub fare, with decent bar selections. Hot Beef Dip is something I hadn't had in a long time. At $11.99 with fries, it seemed like the right choice. The sandwich wasn't bad but the fries were the real star. They were nice and crispy, just how I like them! My server was friendly and efficient, checking on me several times. A guest at a nearby table ordered a burger and it looked really good. Next time.

This is a great local spot. The inside is really nicely done and it's a great place to watch a game. Service is always friendly. It's never really busy but it should be so if you live in North Ajax support these guys. We had a fried chicken sandwich and a turkey club. Fries are really good.

My husband and I ducked into The Emperor Restaurant and Tappery on Westney Rd between Rossland and Kingston and wow! We were a bit skeptical at first because no one else was there and it had the bar feel that felt weird at lunch hour but boy am I glad we went there. The owner I think and staff were all super friendly, and the food speaks for itself. We ordered the Beef Chili Nachos and the Mediterranean Wrap with Fries. The portion was big enough that we had our left overs for dinner and the food was fresh, delicious and the fries were so crispy! We will definitely be back.

Dinned here for the first time in September 2020. The weather was really nice so we were able to dine on their patio. The sever we had was super nice and friendly. I ordered a couple drinks with some chicken wings. The wings were good but not amazing. I ordered the Cajun flavoured and jerk- both dry rub.

Every time that I’ve gone in with my partner we’ve had a great time. The servers have always been really kind to us and it’s been a good vibe all around. We do tend to go on the later side when it’s less busy so maybe we get premium attention lol but overall it is always a good time. We’ve literally only had one negative experience with one specific server, but because of all the countless other positive experiences we kept returning because we knew it was just a one off type of event. Overall I would recommend!

Great,fast service! The food was plentiful, delicious and the price was very affordable. Very clean and beautiful looking interior and lots of choices on the menu for every taste

The server was so friendly & humble. Her name is Thamara I belive. Incredible service. Very big space & the was sooo good. We will definitely be back.

I really regret writing such a negative review for a new local business in Ajax as I really do go out of my way to support. None the less, the wings had absolutely no taste what so ever. The server tried her very best but significantly lacked professionalism and basic server training - I believe this can be rectified with appropriate training. None the less, the restaurant is spacious and has lots of potential. However the appropriate changes need to be made sooner rather than later before. I hope the manager and owner see this as constructive, I personally will not be returning.

Lovely atmosphere, excellent tv screens with terrific accommodations for requests for specific sporting events. I’ve been here numerous times and the food is exceptional. The reason why I continue to come is because of the warm and gracious staff. Karissa and Naomi go out to their way to be hospitable and make this place my go to neighbourhood bar.

My fiancé and I have become regulars here while visiting family in Durham. Service is exceptional, everyone is incredibly friendly, and the food is delicious! We’ve tried everything from the wings to the steak sandwich to the curry to the chicken souvlaki and everything has tasted amazing… even to my VERY picky partner! Drinks are extremely well priced and they open late. It’s a sports bar with huge tvs , so this isn’t really a place for “ambience,” but it’s a great place to enjoy delicious food and drinks!
