If you know, you know. It's easy to miss Casa Verde due to its location, but this is one of the best Italian spots in the area. It's a small, cozy, family-run restaurant. The service was superb as the waitresses were friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. All the dishes I tried were excellent. I enjoyed the crab cakes special, veal parmigiana, and the creme caramel dessert. It may seem a bit pricey, but it was worth it for the quality food and overall experience. My only criticism is that I found it a bit dark inside the restaurant, but otherwise I highly recommend trying Casa Verde!
This old house is really charming. The interior has this polished coziness to it that I was really into... Would definitely recommend dining here. Seems to get busy pretty quickly so I would make a reservation on just to be sure..Food: 5/5
So we have lived in Durham for years and drove past this place a million times and finally went back in the summer, we were impressed enough to to back for a second time tonight. This small family and I mean run business has great fresh food and good prices considering the current inflation. Look if you can afford to eat out you will find this place good value based on portion size. Go and try this place for yourself, mother and daughter will give you a good meal in a nice setting. You can park on Kingston or Old Kingston Roads.
We really enjoyed our evening here for Valentine’s Day. The food was delicious, ambiance quaint and cozy. They did a great job with this space by adding mirrors at the end of the room to make it feel bigger and brighter. The cocktails were good except for the iodized table salt as the rim for a margarita. One thing I don’t understand is why so many restaurants do two set seatings for special occasions. The same amount of covers can be booked by staying open one hour later and staggering seating times between 5-6 and 7-8. When everyone sits at once it’s overwhelming for servers and the kitchen, which was clear when we received our bill after our entrees without being served dessert or offered coffee, which was disappointing when paying $350. This was quickly fixed and dessert was excellent. When leaving the entrance was very congested as everyone had arrived for the 7pm seating while the whole restaurant is also trying to leave. Overall we did really enjoy ourselves and will be back on a regular evening.
I really enjoyed my dining experience here. I ordered the Insulata Caprese and the Pollo Samantina, while my partner ordered the Bruschetta and the Lamb Chops. Everything tasted absolutely delicious. I highly recommend Casa Verde and will be going back this Saturday. I’m looking forward to it!
Fresh bread, delicious caesar salad and dinner entree Pollo Ripieno. Friendly service from Evan. Large food portions. Dinner was delicious. Great private patio. Finished with a Italian coffee. My first time. Definitely will be back. Don't miss out great Italian homemade food. Returned for another visit. Patio dinner. Delicious once again. Added some new photos.
First time at Casa Verde and loved it ! Food was excellent and hot , the service was impeccable and friendly. Enjoyed the atmosphere and the banter with the family who own and operate the restaurant. Will definately return and can't wait to use their charming patio in warmer months
Our group of 6 had dinner at Casa Verde Saturday night and it was a disappointment. First course Caesar salad was so small it didn't even fill a small bowl. At $17.00 I would have expected a full bowl. Lasagna was overcooked noodles with some meat and sauce, certainly not authentic Italian. All three couples were not impressed. Each couple received a hand written bill with the gratuity 18% after tax already added to total. We had one bad meal years ago, a lovely meal a month ago and a very disappointing meal this time. I think it's a hit and a miss with this restaurant.
Amazing New Year’s Eve Dinner We live close by to this restaurant and have passed by for many years, we elected to dine a lot in Toronto. Little did we know that a “gem” was hidden in our back yard. Case Verde, Service outstanding, food amazingly delicious!! We had their pre plan New Year’s meal. The 5 course plus dessert and tea was brilliantly planned and executed. Kudos to the chef, sirloin and Cornish Hens, our choice of entree, please try it. We are extensive travellers, Positano, Portofino Sicily, Tuscany and Roma are all very well represented by the hands of the cook. We absolutely will return and highly recommend this restaurant of choice.
It was my first time visiting Casa Verde. This restaurant has been on my list of places to visit for years and I’m happy I finally got it off my list. Everything tasted amazing- from the appetizer, to the main and lastly the dessert. Hands down the best TIRMASU ever. Parking was a little rough- but it was worth the hassle. I highly recommend this restaurant!
