The Citadelle of Québec

I had a fantastic guide who was extremely knowledgeable and answered every question with ease! They made my tour both interesting and enjoyable. I was lucky enough to witness the cannon firing, which was an unforgettable experience. I also loved how, at the beginning of the tour, the guide assumed everyone was from the USA or Canada and was pleasantly surprised to meet someone from Poland! The Citadel of Quebec is a breathtaking historical site that beautifully showcases the city’s rich military heritage. The star-shaped fortress offers stunning views of the St. Lawrence River and Old Quebec, making it a must-visit for history buffs and casual tourists alike. Our experience was made even more memorable by our exceptional tour guide, Brandon, whose engaging storytelling, deep knowledge, and friendly demeanor brought the site’s history to life. Plenty of parking available for free inside the premises. But it’s limited to few hours2hrs. But it didn’t look like anyone is monitoring the time duration. It’s very cold during the winter surely more than what your weather app indication. So be prepared. One of the picturesque places in whole Quebec. Lots of locations for photos.

There are many historical items related to the Canadian Forces that can be seen in this Citadel, making it perfect for anyone interested in this area of history. For those who don't know much about the history of the Canadian Forces or the history of this Citadel, you can follow a free guide during your visit of this Citadel you have to pay for the ticket to enter, the guide speaks English and the speech was very detailed. Another reason for recommending entry is that there are great viewing platforms from the castle to view Old Quebec. Finally, the changing of the guards at the entrance is also worth seeing, so you can plan ahead of your visit and arrive around the time of the shift change.

Very cool historic site. We didn't pay for a tour inside but just walking about the grounds in the park and Plains of Abraham and admiring the citadel's construction was an awesome experience.
