I mean what can I say? This place is like going back in time for customer service. I've purchased a camera here before, but this time I just needed advice with my D500 and eventually getting a Fuji. Ron spent a good 25 minutes with me giving the best advice. I mean they are just wonderful at helping you. I couldn't imagine going anywhere else if you live in Calgary for your camera needs. These guys are so knowledgeable and don't make you feel bad at all for asking any questions that I'm sure they hear all the time. Thanks Ron!
Just getting into photography and wasn't really sure about much so popped into The Camera Store and had a great experience. Dave took the time to give me almost a 30 min crash course - showing me several different cameras, taking into account my skill level, and budget. Their prices are very competitive, and every time I've gone in since I've been greeted and helped almost immediately. This isn't a retail experience you get much anymore!
Can all other retail stores be like this? I had such a great experience here - the staff was crazy knowledgeable and you could tell they are all so passionate about what they do. Really cool to see in a workplace. I felt super confident in their advice and they really went above and beyond to help me pick out a lens for my camera. Thank you!
I want to thank Ron Bubnich at The Camera Store for going waaay above and beyond when it came to helping me with my D7100 with a detached back. He went through multiple hands-on fix attempts and finally got the camera cobbled together enough to be useful this weekend. He gave me tech advice and options and willingly shared his extensive knowledge and all of it without any expectations of "sale." The man is a true professional. Great experience once again with the Camera Store, which will always be my go-to photography store in Calgary. Thanks again Ron!
Fantastic experience in customer service with quick replies to any gear questions! The Camera Store stocks hard-to-find Lensbaby products here in Canada. Delivery to Ontario was quick and efficient with well-packaged items.
I have bought cameras at 3 camera stores in Calgary and by far the best service comes from THE CAMERA STORE. They helped me find the right camera and did not push for the most expensive one and then patiently spent time with me on 2 subsequent visits to learn how to transfer the photos from the camerawith it's own wifi to my phone. Graeme was particularly patient and very knowledgeable. 5 stars to Graeme and to the camera store!!!
I had a great first few experiences here. I think the name of one of the employees who were amazing to deal with was Graham. Regardless, things quickly went down hill when i came in for a grey card. I do videography, and had talked to the sales woman about this. I mentioned I hadn’t a large understanding regarding exactly the difference between a cheap grey card and one of the more expensive cards that feature the colour palette. She ended up explaining and effectively upsold me under the logic that I would eventually need one, so it’d save me to buy the colour palette in the long run. The price difference was $20 to $190 ish. The problem arose when she sold me the one for photography, not video, and also failed to mention that the item was NON REFUNDABLE, which for a store which advertises 14 days refund on most items I’d expect a quick disclosure on what cannot be returned. I came in to refund which is a 40 minute drive, and after a salesman spent 10 ish minutes filling out a refund, he apologized and told me they can do nothing and that I need to contact the company who sells the products to them. I did this, and was told me they don’t understand, and that the camera store should’ve refunded. I called in, and the same salesman told me to come back down, and I told him it’s 40 minutes so he should be sure I will be refunded and he told me he wasn’t. I continued to deal with the manufacturer and eventually, after many emails back and fourth and being left in the dark I was contacted by Russ, the manager, and told to bring the item in for a refund. He claimed the item is, after all, refundable. Russ was absolutely horrible to deal with. Made a split second of eye contact with me in the time I was there. He took forever to come out, and many of his employees had to call him out. He seemed passive aggressive and exhausted the entire time, and as a human I understand this, but he is a manager, and I had been dealing with this stressful situation for some time. Maybe maintain a warmer composure regarding a situation your store was completely wrong about for over a week, especially when it’s over a $200 piece of plastic. I brought in an ND filter I bought from them to return as well as I wanted to bring my business elsewhere, which he touched it with his finger accidentally upon inspection. I’m sure he didn’t notice this, because he was jogging around with my products and trying to get everything done as fast as possible. He told me I was wrong, that the woman disclosed to me it was non refundable, which is rich, because even if she did she didn’t she sold me a product that has no relevance to what I went in for I do video, it was for photo, and she knows I do video at a massive upsale. It’s even richer because it was refundable, and even had she said that again, she didn’t the store itself would be wrong. I will not be coming back here. What an absolutely strange experience with Russ. I understand this review could come off as petty, but a useless piece of plastic that cost me $200 in this economy, coupled with needing to drive back and fourth twice for a total of 160 minutes, not being told an item was non refundable, being told I was wrong about my experience, zero smiles, the touching of an ND filter I was returning and many emails back and forth was not cool. Edit as a response to theirs: The product was returnable. You honoured it because YOU were wrong. I can quote the fact you were confused from your own email after you all prompted me on wrong observations if you’d like? The BOX was stained because I left it in the back of my truck after you informed me many times over it was non returnable because, again, you were wrong. It became waste to me because of a mistake you make, and waste becomes dirty. The product was scratched as well, and it was what initially prompted my return process. This is something I spoke to the manufacturer about and it does NOT change or influence my experience with you.
I have been a satisfied in-store client for well over a decade. No longer in Calgary, I still buy gear on the websales page. Always good service at competitive prices and prompt delivery.
Jeff went out of his way to help me gather all the green screen equipment I need. Not only that, but he also came to help me back where I work when I was having some trouble getting things to run. Drew and Gary were also amazing and helped with troubleshooting. I would give them all 10 stars if I could.
Super friendly and knowledgable staff! I'm always greeted with a smile by someone who's eager to help. I'm super new to photography, and have driven from Banff to Calgary twice to pick up a few things. On both occasions, Stefan helped me out. He was super knowledgable, and took the time to answer questions in depth not even just about products they carry, but also just general questions about shooting. It makes making the trip from Banff that much easier when you feel comfortable, and confident that you will get the products you need, along with friendly service. Thanks!
