The Butchart Gardens are a must see location while visiting Victoria Island. I happened to be in Victoria during the winter season and the Gardens were still absolutely breath taking. I cannot imagine how gorgeous the Gardens are in the summer months. I'm from Colorado, USA, where most vegetation is brown for 9 months, so this was quite the experience. I didn't have much interaction with staff, but the little that I did have was positive. I took public transportation to get here and that was probably the best option. The bus ride is a little long if you're leaving from downtown Victoria, but it does drop you off at the front entrance and is well worth the ride. For those who wish to have the most expensive experience, you can also ride a sea plane that drops you off at the back entrance as well.

This place was amazing. We went in December for the winter presentation of 12 days of Christmas in lights. It was truly sensational and worth the $118 for 4 adults and 2 children. This was THE BEST light display I have ever seen and would go again next year if I was in Victoria. It was a cold night but kids skated ( 1 adult and 2 kids skates and safety gear $21) and went on the carousel ($2/person) and we had really yummy hot chocolate..... A night to remember :).

Breathtaking in the summer time and well worth the drive. The floral displays were magnificent in July and we spent almost 3 hours there trying to explore everything. This garden is humongous and organized according to geography and theme. The food court food wasn't the greatest and it was expensive but that was to be expected. The roses were my fave. They smelled amazing!! A must see tourist locale.

Beautiful, in any weather during and season. Butchart Gardens is a MUST SEE at least once in your life if you've never seen it before. Amazing and beautiful. Hard to believe it was a rock quarry! One downside is it is extremely expensive to get in. Gift shop has great selection and surprisingly everything in it is reasonably priced! Unfortunately, the gift shop is not accessible from outside the gardens and therefore, if you've seen the gardens before and just want to go back another time and shop, you still must pay the entrance fee. Restaurant, coffee shop and gift shop all available and entire place is wheelchair accessible.

We went in the winter, so I didn't expect much as far as pretty blooms. I was pleasantly surprised at the beautifully manicured grounds and huge variety of perinnials. The bulbs were all poking out getting ready to make an appearance in the next few weeks. I can't wait to come back in the spring and see the gardens in all their glory. There is an indoor garden with orchids and many exotic flowers, we almost missed this part, so glad we stopped. They have created a small paradise in the greenhouse. We are planning our next trip at the end of March, can't wait to see the change.
