The Brown Barrel

Wife and I decided to try out The Brown Barrel finally. The atmosphere was okay, felt like a semi-quiet sports bar. There ended up being 3 waitresses waiting on us throughout the night. They were out of the mix for our first drink choices, so we had to settle for something else. We placed our order for the spinach and artichoke dip, which although it took quite some time to get to us, was pretty good. Our main meals on the other hand, were brought out shortly after our appetizer. The veggies were undercooked and hard to eat. The schnitzel was very salty, to the point I swear I heard my cardiologist yelling at me. The tartar sauce, my wife said, was worse than store bought tartar sauce. The best thing about the dinner was literally the appetizer, the sweet potato fries, and the mashed potatoes.

Comfy and clean spot with great service. The pizza is made with fresh dough but is pretty average and the sauce is a little bland. The wings are delicious but the sauces are also lacking flavour. I'll have to try the burger next time.Food: 3/5

I am actually quite upset. I only ordered calamari and when I got home, this is all I get when I paid $15! I finished work and went to pick it up. Although the lady who greeted me was very nice. It is very VERY salty, my husband and I couldnt touch it after the first bite.

Been driving by this place for years. Decided to finally try when out with a friend. Menu had good options but chose daily special instead gyro & fries & also ordered greek salad to startGreat place. Excellent portions for prices be prepared to not be able to eat it all and exceptionally friendly service. Great relaxed atmosphere. Will definitely be going back. Worth stopping in here.

We went for a friend's birthday, the waitress was totally awesome . The food was pretty good , they ended up having a 1man band in the main area, which was a bonus.

Ordered from here last night for dinner! Got a 2 piece Haddock & Chips! The Fish batter was very crispy, and delicious, the fish was tender. The Chips were done perfectly, and the gravy was a perfect match with them! I'd definitely order from here again! I recommend them if you love Fish & Chips!!

I like this cozy little pub... Good service, great prices, the hot wings aren't really hot by my standards but very tasty anyway...

The Brown Barrel has been in the neighbourhood for quite some time but my partner and I only recently started going there. I think this was our third or fourth trip there. The food has consistently been excellent and the servers are always friendly. Each time we have started with their 3 cheese baked garlic shrimp. We've kept ordering it when we go back because it is so so good. It is served with a ciabatta bun - that's always so fresh. Perfect for dipping. My partner cannot say enough about their Hunter Schnitzel. It is a huge portion. It comes with mashed potatoes and steamed vegetables. When one thinks of steamed vegetables - mushy immediately comes to mine - but not here! They are always perfectly steamed - a little crispy still. When he was working downtown he frequented a restaurant down there that specialized in schnitzel. He says the Hunter Schnitzel at the Brown Barrel is better than he has had anywhere. I am a big fan of their personal size pizza and 1515 Chicken Club is one of my favourites. It is so lovely to have found a new local place that consistently delivers quality tasty food. And they know how to make the perfect Caesar there too!
