Great variety and tons of selection. Lots of seating and always have had good service. Highly recommend to anyone liking craft beer as they have around 50 on tap at all times. Always changing also! Food is good also.
Massive and diverse beer and cider selection. Food was good. Had the chicken wings and the Korean Sando Chicken burger. Friendly staff. Lively atmosphere, it was busy on a Tuesday night! Good sized patio with heaters and side covers. Staff could be bit more attentive. We were seated at the patio and it started raining and took some time to flag a staff member to turn on the sidecovers to shield us from the rain. Otherwise, great local pub/taproom if you're looking to hangout or have a drink.
Came here for the first time after some recommendations. It exceeded my expectations and this will definitely be a spot I'll be going to often. The drink selection is massive with 50 different beers and ciders on tap. I recommend browsing the choices on the website before you come in. We ordered the loaded fries for a starter and they were on point. I ordered the KFC burger for my main and it was one of the best fried chicken burgers I've had and we also ordered the London Fog Creme Brulee which was very good.
First time coming here and had a great experience. Service was great and he shared his beer knowledge with is which really helped as there are many choices. Food was excellent, burger was well prepared and flavorful, stew was great not spicy. Appy was delicious, the 2 in house made sauces went perfect. Will definitely be back.
After reading a lot of positive reviews I was excited to try the Barley Merchant, but my experience was not nearly as good as I had hoped. The beer I ordered wasn’t very cold, and the food I got was just above room temperature. The taste of the food was good, I just things could have been executed better. My friend ordered a glass of wine and it came with some obvious lipstick prints on it. All in all it wasn’t a very good experience and I wouldn’t bother going back.
Met our son and his fiance here on their recommendation and they hit a home run! Place was going through all safety protocols when we 1st arrived. Our server was great...she had all the answers and made some choice suggestions. My Ginger Beef stew was absolutely delicious and so was the Butternut Squash soup. If you're not aware of their set up, all the beer, ciders and wine are from BC. Make this a must on your beer tour...or just a night out!
From the moment you walk in, the vibe and atmosphere of this restaurant was very welcoming. The servers were very friendly and helpful. They have great variety to their menu and lots of different options on tap. The food came really quickly and was hot and delicious. I look forward to returning and trying some other things.
I believe that craft beer and delicious scratch-made food should be enjoyed together. The Barley Merchant gives me the best of both worlds! A must visit for craft beer enthusiasts, foodies and music lovers alike.
I really wanted to love this place, but the food and price were the biggest letdown. Two stars for the tasty wings, lively restaurant, friendly staff and large beer selection. Minus 3 stars for the price and bland food. Over $16 for about 8 wings. Tasty? Yes. Worth $2 per wing? No way. We also tried the Taproom burger and pear/beet salad and they weren't very flavorful. The salad was bland, soggy and the add-on chicken was pretty plain. Maybe that was my fault for picking a salad in a pub, but the burger wasn't much better - like it was missing seasoning. I wasn't a fan of the beer flights, but that's my fault for chosing such sour beers plus, it's personal preference so I won't dock them for that. Overall, a vibrant, clean atmosphere for the drinks alone. I wish the food was better.
Extensive list of drinks and above average quality of food when it comes to brewery/pub style of restaurants. This place apparently only takes reservations if you're a group of 8+. Anything below that, it's first come, first serve. But fear not, they have a pretty good system of trying to move people in/out pretty smoothly. You just drop your name and cell number down at the front desk and you can see where you are on the waiting list updated live. We came here as a group of 4 at around 6:30 PM on a sunny Saturday and this place was jam-packed. There were 5 groups ahead of us and I think we waited for around 20mins or so before we got seated in. Reasonable wait time imo. The decor inside is very welcoming, not overly trendy, and clean. Very spacious with many comfy booths available for groups of 3+. Their drinks selection is HUGE. Beer, cider, cocktails, even mocktails...you name it. They have such good variety. and their food feels more elevated than other places of similar settings I find. You can never go wrong with any of their burgers and they make the best fries! If you're thinking of coming here for a date night though, i would suggest to rethink that idea cuz this place is LOUD! Loud from music and chatters around, it's a little hard to have normal convo without having to yell at your friends a little. All and all, I'll definitely come back to have casual eat outs with friends and try out more things from their menu.
