It was not crowded when I arrived so I could choose where to sit. There is street parking nearby. My meal was underwhelming. I ordered the pad see ewe with extra broccoli. Normally pad see ewe noodles are thicker and chewier than pad Thai noodles, but my dish had pad Thai noodles. There was not much flavor but there was A LOT of black pepper dumped on top. I could see it and removed noodles with it because all I could taste was black pepper.
This restaurant has been serving great food for many years...from crab Rangoon to chicken pad Thai to their spring rolls and chicken fried rice with pineapple...everything is delicious! Portions are generous and prices are reasonable. Ottawa, IL, is lucky to still have this gem!
had a lovely lunch here! pad thai and basil chicken came out super quickly and were flavorful and perfectly seasoned, portions were generous, and the thai iced tea had a good balance of tea and condensed milk. the owner is really nice as well
Thai Cafe was authentic enough to make me feel I was in country. Staff was friendly and helpful in keeping my Togo order warm while I ate my dinner. Easy to find on Hwy 23 right at the end of the one way section in town
Traveling to Wisconsin and had hankering for Thai. After a quick Google search of upcoming towns, we found this gem. It was a bit off the interstate, but well worth the drive. Parking was readily available on the street out front. We were greeted by a sweet lady who not only took our order, but was also the chef. We shared pad thai and spicy fried rice. Both were prepared quickly and were full of amazing flavors. The restaurant and restrooms were clean and well appointed. Should we ever pass through this area again, we will surely swing by.
This place is a little bit pricey compared to other Thai places I've been to, but it also has a very mom and pop feel: the owner is also the chef and makes your food fresh. That being said the pad thai had good flavor though it could have used a little more protein and the pad see ew was a little salty for my tastes, but still flavorful. The fresh spring rolls were a great appetizer with a little kick and a good dipping sauce plus they're made with a rice wrap and not flour!. I'll definitely finish what I bought but I can't say I'd come back unfortunately, especially given the price.
We are in town for the US Skydiving National Championships and wanted Thai food. We have a licensed military service dog that was trained for 18 months by Rebulding Warriors in her service vest. We walked in and the owner refused us service. We informed her of the law regarding licensed service dogs and she didn’t care. I encourage all veterans to avoid this establishment, they don’t care for us!
I get take out regularly. I consider it a blessing to be able to get Thai food in Ottawa freaking Illinois. Love me some Pad Wun Sen. I rotate through the curries too. Massaman is great. Very cool art on the walls too. Check it out!
Pricey place with small portions. Taste was not bad. I do not expect french cuisine portions in a Thai restaurant. We were 5 of us and the young girl didn't acknowledge us. She was sitting at a table busy with her laptop. I noticed though she was more attentive to other guests. Vegetarian duck is awful. Pad thai was ok. My spicy noodles were thankfully not sweet. And I wished for more veggies in our dishes. Fresh spring roll was good. I think they have increased from my last visit and have reduced the portion sizes as well. They were definitely not dinner size. Oh well I tried!!!
A “real deal” Thai restaurant! Wonderful Spring rolls. Fresh and crisp vegetables in a rice wrap with chopped peanuts and dipping sauce. Tasty and a pretty visual appeal. Also had the Thai basil with beef. Sauce was nicely spicy and the beef and vegetables were tender. Shame there is only takeout now due to Covid. The interior is charming and hope to sit down there for a meal someday. Great meal and restaurant!
