Telkwa Baeckerei-Kaffeehaus

My wife and I are on a self-supported bike tour, and were 35 miles into our day's ride, and this bakery / cafe was the first business open with food. While I now understand there is a local controversy, the food was out of this world good. The owner, Jonathan, gets up at 3 am to bake everything personally. I had two breakfast sandwiches which were the best such sandwiches I have ever had in my life. Glad we stopped.

I have been watching the situation unfold from the very beginning. I stayed quiet to see how everything was going to resolve. As someone who has worked in the service/restaurant industry (at a small business) for 7 years, I have to say... the way your establishment has handled the situation is embarrassing. You had been informed that what you did was illegal and yet you keep trying to defend your actions. Illegal=in the wrong. Yet because of what I can only assume is pride, you have not apologised. That is very bad for business. Public opinion is everything, and you have alienated a whole lot of people that could have been potential customers. You are coming across as rude and uncaring. That is reason enough for me to not support a business. (I am also currently breastfeeding. And its situations like this that makes it impossible for me to breastfeed in public. My social anxiety just can't handle it.) I hope you will eventually learn from this ordeal, and that you will be able to find humility and success. Good luck!

Love the cafe and product:) Telkwa is lucky to have these guys! They mastered the baking and it's amazing!

Amazing bakery, involved in something of a PR disaster at the moment but that doesn't stop it having the best coffee and baked goods in Northern BC.
