We were really disappointed. We have a 20 ft. trailer and the campsite was just barely big enough. The picnic table was off to the side and there was no where that it could sit level after parking the trailer. No cover on sewer so it was quite smelly. There are permanent 5th wheels with structers, wrought iron or wooden fences in the full service area so we felt like interlopers. There is also a metal working business in the park. We never saw any cleaning or maintenance after guests left. The permanent residents that we met were nice. There is a park manager on site but we never saw them.
Beautiful drive to Telegraph Cove. It is a beautiful place to visit. Great food, a whale museum, and a few gift stores.
Excellent location, beautiful environment, reasonably priced, and nice people. Certainly not a luxury resort, but the toilets do flush and the showers have hot water. This is a great option for budget travelers who are camping their way through Vancouver Island. I'd stay there again.
Should have read the reviews, rented the small cabin because of weather. Unfortunately it seems that nobody cleans or maintains anything in this place. Was clearly never cleaned before our visit floors dirty etc. The interior has a very pungent unbearable mold smell that never went away. We had to buy some candles from town to make it even useable. It seems that it was built with out proper ventilation to stop mold. The interior table attached to the wall was damaged possibly water ? As noted from other reviews, a large portion of the grounds occupied by long term trailers. As well some very unappealing shacks, decrepit rvs, trailers. As well some sites are in the woods and the sites are very muddy. So if it has rained or is going to rain it’s going to be muddy. Anyways know before you go
We camped here after the ferry from Bella Coola. We were sandwiched into a site in a sort of community with permanent residents. This was not camping and I would be sure to not be in one of those unless you need full hookups. In another area of the campground there are more bucolic forested sites that had tents and smaller RV's and looked a lot nicer. You should know that the camp is 15 km from Hwy 19 down a twisty poorly maintained road and then a short gravel segment. We would not return. You might as well stay in Port Hardy after a long ferry ride before moving on.
Had the entire place to ourselves, it was insanely windy so we stayed in the middle away from the trees. Beautiful scenery. Lovely setting. Just a quick walk down to Bauza Cove or the Blinkhorn Trailhead. Check out the metal art gallery in the office! Beautiful work!
This was a peaceful campground, preserving the natural feel of the area i.e., neither overly manicured nor paved. The bathrooms are clean and the showers hot. The campground is a pleasant 10 minute walk to the marina at Telegraph Cove. WiFi at the campground was reasonably priced and good enough. Note: Be sure to login to only one network with each device, because each login is counted as a separate device described below. We purchased WiFi for 2 devices. I logged on to two of the networks trying to find the strongest signal at our site before my partner logged on at all. My two logins used both "device" allowances in spite of being the same device. The proprietor was dubious of my explanation when I tried to get things sorted out. He checked his networks and found two logins but did not or could not see both were the same device e.g., the same MAC address. He eventually gave us access for the second device. I wish he had described the limitations clearly at the start to save us all time and awkward interactions.
Booked in August,2020. Great location in a woods close to the village, a beach and a view point for whale watching. This campsite is a big place and has residential side which is more wooded area. Beach side is better maintained and sunny spots. I was placed in residential side and was dark, moss growing and by swamp. Worst site I got assigned.
I'd go back tomorrow if I could. Great location. 10 min walk to village. Reasonable rates with good amenities. Attentive caretakers. Facilities are older but functional and clean.
Like a fairyland in the rainforest! The owners were so accommodating and helpful when we ran into a little RV issue and even when the weather was not the best at the time, it was peaceful and beautiful. Close to Telegraph Cove, we could go back in time and had a fabulous dinner!
