Excellent service. The first time I actually felt like my lawyer was competent and not trying to get more money out of me. William Tatham actually took the time to listen (unheard of!) and provide solid advice though I know how busy he was with clients leaving before me and waiting after me. Fee was as expected and in line with other quotes I'd had, but service was definitely above expectations.
Thank you!

I used this law firm for a home purchase and regret it terribly as they made multiple errors and four months after closing, demanded an extra $800 because of their own billing mistake. This is an account of what happened. Please read and consider using a different firm.
Oct 2015- I received a Trust Ledger Statement letting me know how much I would pay to them on closing day. The purchase price of the house was incorrect and I had to have them correct it (error #1). Then I received a Revised Trust Ledger Statement letting me know that the legal fees+disbursements would cost $1235. This is the amount I paid. They gave me an appointment day and time to go to their office. On the day before the appointment, they called stating I had missed the appointment (error #2). I let them know it was for the next day.
Jan 2016- I received all the completed paperwork for the purchase. Buried in the middle of the paperwork was yet another Revised Trust Ledger Statement showing that I owe $800 and a statement that they made an error in the first Revised Trust Ledger Statement (error #3). I did not notice this as I assumed this was just a copy of the same Revised Trust Ledger Statement from before. I would have expected a call to apologize and explain the mistake in a situation like this.
Feb 2016 - I received a letter asking for the $800. I called and left a voicemail asking for a call back to explain this. No one called me back (error #4).
Mar 2016 - I received another letter asking for the $800+interest! I called again and this time they did get back to me. They could not explain how the mistake was made in the first place and why no one returned my call a month ago but of course demanded that I pay. I consulted some friends in law who thought the legal fees+disbursements on the 2nd Revised Trust Ledger Statement seemed a bit too high though still within the realm of reasonableness for a big city. I was prepared to pay but I was a very dissatisfied customer at this point.
April 2016 - I spoke to William Tatham and asked him to work out a discount as this is their error and their service was poor. He accused me of trying to take advantage of him! He threatened to take us to the Superior Court of Justice for an assessment! Not wanting to deal with the hassle of this ongoing drama as my husband and I are both busy professionals ourselves, we paid the $800.
I am very disappointed by the multiple errors they made and the poor attitude of William Tatham. I would never recommend this firm to anyone and will be making a complaint to the Law Society of Upper Canada.
