Their quality and services were not as good as they were. Got this King salmon in a pack and have them sliced for me. It looks really good before I picked them up. You can clearly see the before and after. The chef was new and the lady manger was at his back to guide him. I didn’t see how he sliced the sashimi but if I have known that is what I got, I would have refused. I understand there might be bones in the salmon. But that’s kinda false presentation, no? Just because you laid in a perfect way, it doesn’t hide how it was to me when I eat it. I would not expect that at Taro Fish so I’m pretty disappointed. Went back there the next week and order some more sashimi. When I mentioned to the cashier, he passed the message to the older Chinese chef. He said the sashimi was not gone bad. Excuse me, I never said the sashimi gone bad. Please do not put your words into my mouth. All I was saying is that if I knew there was bones in the sashimi and the way of your cutting will be that bad, I might have change to a difference piece. He was trying to change the subject when he saw the pictures. The lady might be the manager simply said it is how it is. If you want, we can show you how we sliced next timennIf that’s how you do business, fine.nnI’m not sure if I will visit again.
I was there June 5 , Staff there so accommodating and friendly willing to get exactly what i need and even advice ! Did not get name of staff that cut sashimi to perfection so grateful !Kevin helped me take everything to my vehicle for that i am thankful as was a lot ! I have been to the other ones but to me service here is a lot better thanks again. ! They even separated my stuff into two as i was purchasing for my son as well ! Kevin gave me extra ginger and wasabi at no extra charger !
Tried the sushi deluxe! I would say for $35 it’s such a steal! The fish is so fresh and they are big pieces. They only start prepping them beginning at 1pm, so keep that in mind.
This was my second time trying Taro’s fish, my first time was like more than 15 years ago I couldn’t remember much. I know they have good quality fish and I wanted to have a platter of sashimi that day. So they only have small sashimi platters that are ready made if you want more variety you need to pick your own pre-packed pieces of fish from the fridge and they will slice them and make a platter for you. There were not too many choices on that day it’s a Tuesday unfortunately but overall they were very fresh. I paid $110 for my platter plus some extra pickled gingers and sushi rice.
I've been here many times, and I swear to God, each time it's been the most consistently fresh, high quality fish and sushi I've had in Toronto. This place is unlike any other sushi place in the city and are a core part of the Japanese community, so you know they are authentic. Every dollar I spend at Taro's Fish is WORTH IT and the staff service is FIRE. They are totally unassuming from the outside, but once you go in, it's clear they care about their shit and they are so good at their craft. They don't care to become viral or trendy or what have you, they just truly stick to their roots, which is so rare in this day and age. A hidden gem in every sense of the word. I don't leave reviews anywhere, but I swear this has to be the best quality sushi I've ever had in Toronto.
