The best tacos within 20 miles of Anoka. The place is easy to miss, but well worth finding.

This taqueria is a gem of the NW suburbs. Fast and friendly service with authentic, fresh flavors and a reasonable price. You hear the cleavers chopping meat from the back. 😁 First time there and had one of each type of taco(minus the fish) and they were great. Served with fresh cilantro, onion, radish, lime wedges, whole roasted jalapenos as well as homemade salsa verde and roja. Will definitely be back again.

Authentic food served by super nice folks. Tamales on Saturdays, great food every day except Sunday when they are closed. I recommend the fish tacos but they are unlike those you'll get at other local Mexican restaurants. These are not panko-breaded tilapia served with shredded cabbage. La Paloma uses unbreaded mahi nicely seasoned and served with diced onion, cilantro and that's all. A roasted jalapeño is included, and lime wedges are provided if you like to brighten up the flavors a bit. Also provided are a fiery chili sauce, a tangy verde and smooth guacamole on the side which you can use to add some moisture but I prefer the as-is simplicity and save the sauce for some Xochitl chips from the supermarket. Order three or four tacos because you'll be disappointed with only one or two. Try the quesadillas which are loaded with the meat of your choice. The weekend tamales sell out quickly so get there early.
