This was the first time I ordered from sweetwater. I was super excited because the menu looked and sounded amazing, and the reviews on google were great. I ordered steak bites and beer-battered chicken. Unfortunately, the steak bites looked like charcoal. They were so overcooked and dry, and they were completely inedible. Chicken was better than the steak bites, but were also extremely dry. Very disappointing
The customer service was terrible and the order taking was unorganized. One of the cooks was holding his phone in one hand and frying food with the other. The whole staff was unprofessional at 1030pm. The lemon pepper wings were not lemon pepper they were lightly sprinkled with seasoning. More like a dash of lemon pepper. The baked beans were straight out of the can and not even doctored up. The best thing there were the undercooked french fries.
Where do I start…. It hurts to write this review. I’ve been a Sweetwater customer for years and have put so many of my friends and family onto their wings. Over the years the quality of the food has decreased while the prices have increased. The wings I recently got left an awful scent on my hands, I couldn’t finish them and had to toss them out.
I've been eating Sweetwater Tavern wings from the original location on Congress for decades. They are one of a kind and always worth the trip. This Southfield location is a disgrace. Dry, flavorless, overcooked wings with sad sides. Even the roasted potatoes were flavorless and overcooked. Truly disgusted that I wasted my money with this knock-off.
Severely disappointed...The wings were the staple and this location messes them up.. My wings were extremly dry, over cooked, super bland and cooked in old grease. I'm done with this location. This is the second time....this location needs to be audited by Sweetwater Detroit. Southfield location should just shut down. If you have never had Sweetwater wings please don't try them from this location. Southfield gives sweetwater a bad name.
The food is on point, customer service A1, and the ambiance is professional. I LOVE THIS PLACE! I’m hooked on the Sweetwater wings!!!
Wasted potential. I have been to this location a handfull of times. Let me tell you something, some of the best chicken I've ever had. And I've been to a TON of absoloutely fantastic chicken restaurants so that says a lot. As a matter of fact i would rate this place It's highly deserved 5 stars if not for one very glaring and HUGE issue. On my first appearance at the place, when I read the reviews and was confused out of my mind at the negative feedback...but after going there 8 times or so I see why. The staff is HORRIBLY undisciplined. Key word "undisciplined" they are nice and friendly and can carry conversations well. They do their jobs well, not exactly efficient. I show up to this place...somewhat often maybe once or twice a week for a little while now. Their opening times are 11am which is usually when I myself take my lunch. This location is NOT for early risers. I have had to wait until near 11:45am until I actually had to leave to return to work because they took so long to open. On that note i have no idea if they even opened at that time because of the fact I left. Which means they could've been closed still for even longer possibly. -this is not just a one time occurrence however. I'd say 5 of the 8 times I've been there the restaurant was closed until 11:20am to 11:30am. Which might not sound like much, but for people taking lunch off work during the day thats kinda a big deal. The next issue is the time it takes for them to make a meal. I typically order their chicken strip and chicken wing combo when I go there and to wait it takes about 20 to 30 minutes sometimes even more. I myself have worked at KFC and know how this stuff is typically prepared. I can tell you for certain I can cut that time down to 15 or 10 bear minimum with my own cooking equipment. When i worked at KFC previously, my boss would simply have us there almost 2 hours early to make sure everything is ready on opening time. It's kinda sad actually to see a place with so much potential succumb not to food quality, not to customer service, not to price of food, but to something as simple as laziness. What is even more baffling is that they are lazy...at 11 am? Like...its not even that early. I WANT to like this place, i WANT to support it. However when I go out to lunch and think of this place, the last thing i should be thinking is "will i even be able to make it in the door today?" Because that's what it is...a gamble. And because of that other lower quality places will continue to get better business. A shame.
every single time i order here on doordash they never give me the extra ranch i pay for. the food is great but i don't understand why they won't just give me the extra cup of sauce. sometimes they give me one ranch and one bleu cheese. i almost expect not to get it but always hope someone throws it in the bag
The food is great and the wings has a very special flavoring...whatever it is it is PERFECT with rice. Johnathan was great and always takes time to remind me of things I forgot to order that I usually get.
The "Special" wings are just about the best I've had. They are actually wing dings, not whole wings, but they're very meaty and taste great. They have a zesty, savory flavor and also have a spicy kick, but are not too spicy. I think they are the best in town. The seasoned fries are very tasty also and easily enough for two people. The cost is about on par with other local restaurants, but the quality and taste is superior.
