Beans & Cornbread has been serving the heart and soul of Southern cooking since 1997. The Best Soul Food award-winning restaurant fuses southern roots with an epicurean influence in traditional favorites and low country cuisine. Beans & Cornbread Soulful Bistro offers a unique upscale dining experience, featuring a quaint wine & martini bar named sidebar and a luxurious private event space called Red Velvet for parties with up to 50 guests. The brand's new expansion is a casual dining concept called Beans & Cornbread TOO GO offering a mix of its popular vegetarian and traditional soul food for carryout only. Beans & Cornbread has appeared on the Chew, Food Network, Detroit Fox TV 2 “Cooking School” and in the 2012 remake of the movie Sparkle filmed in Detroit. Two locations: Beans & Cornbread Soulful Bistro & Bar 29508 Northwestern Highway; and just 5 stores away is Beans & Cornbread TOO GO, 29540 Northwestern Highway. Maria was a wonderful server. The gumbo is to die for. Rich and flavorful, with succulent pieces of shrimp, chicken, sausage, and gumbo. The blackened catfish is phenomenal, tender and spicy. The collard greens and black eyed pies were good too! Try this place!
