Sutherland Restaurant

I've been to this place twice now and I found it to be a pleasant atmosphere with awesome staff. The layout is modern and spacious, the bar and kitchen area are open and creative as well in my opinion. The food was great both times I went there and the servers were very professional and attentive. They change their dinner menu often to try new recipes which is welcomed! They also have a patio for the accommodating weather and great location. Overall good place to treat yourself I say!

Horrible service ! If you wanna go for brunch on the weekend call ahead and make reservation . Waited over 1hour for a table, when they were some empty tables when we got there ... 12 people left during that time , from outside around 8 came in ! They were still empty tables while we waited . Staff are not helpful at all . Very disorganized. Update: I’ve decided to give it a second chance . Made reservation and went for brunch . We arrived we got a table, but right away were told that the same table was reserved for an hour and a half after, so we had to finish eating by then . The menu was dirty with egg and coffee stains . We were asked if we wanted coffee , I said no , and the person with me said yes . We both got coffee even tho I didn’t want it . I didn’t make a big deal about it, just didn’t even touch it, but then when we got the bill I got charged for the coffee I didn’t even ask for it . We asked for the avocado toast and the chicken waffles as for reviews they were one of the best ! Well for a place that you need to reserve, food was very average and presentation was horrible . Both plates were chipped note in the chicken waffles picture was the most notorious one & the chicken waffles had an spicy sauce. Overall I gave up in this place, there was not even one thing that made me go wow ! I think this place is overrated. They are way better places in Ottawa for brunch with better service, presentation and quality . I do not recommend at all .

Absolute bomb. This place has the best fried chicken in Ottawa hands down. The seasoning, breading, gravy...so good that I came back twice in one week.The staff and chef/owner are great. Service is always above and beyond. I love the atmosphere. Great addition to the Ottawa food scene. Show them some love!

It was really unpleasant experience for our second visit. Our waitress was really unprofessional and rude. Since we really enjoyed our first, recommended to our friend and came back with him for the weekend brunch. The food was still good but the service needs improvement.

Great place to be with friends for breakfast brunch with a reservation etc..... service was good nothing else to ad except the ambiance is "Super" as we lost of time. Would I be back ? Yes for sure. Merci et au plaisir

Third time at Sutherland and second time ordering the chicken and waffles for brunch. I had a craving for this dish after the first time having it, and it was just as awesome as I remembered it. The portion is large, the chicken is perfectly seasoned and came out piping hot. The waffle is excellent, the gravy is exactly what you want, and they serve real maple syrup in a jug! Excellent coffee as well. I also have to comment on the service - it was fast and genuine. What a great third experience. I will be back soon!

I've been looking for The best chicken & waffles in town, and nothing comes close to Sutherland in Ottawa-Gatineau. They're tender and full of flavor. Also, if you go there in the evening, they have a great selection of in-house cocktails.

I went there for a brunch. Great staffs, food, decor and services. Staffs are cool, friendly and motivated. Food is good. And there is quantity. Services are fast. And the decor is refreshing.

Excellent food, good portion sizes and great price. Place is a must eat. Great servcie.

Wanted to try chicken and waffle 1st time I was there for Sunday dinner but they ran out so had the short rib which was very tasty but the side were on the light side and it would have been better to get pureed potatoes. 2nd time a few weeks later the $14 or $15 chicken and waffle now come in 2 sizes, with 2 bites for $14 and the original 4 bites for $20 So a very significant increase. Very tasty but small portion if you get the small size. Had a good breakfast so was okay for a small bite but one would be disappointed with the portion otherwise.
