My wife and children were patients there for 6 years. It is next to impossible to get a hold of anyone. They also dropped us as patients - they sent a letter to an old address, and when my wife called to make an appointment they simply said, “you’re not a patient so we can’t help you”. It is places like this that make you question whether public healthcare really works.
I am new to Sault Saint Marie, I am 73 years old and have continuing health issues. I have called, left messages and have had no answers. I like the Family Health Team approach as this is what I had in Cambridge, On. It is frustrating to have no answer, or ability to contact a Dr. this seems like a bad thing, not to be able to get ahold of them in any way, or not to receive any feedback.
Even before COVID started, getting care was difficult. Dr Taylor often forgot about me entirely, I have had to call back multiple times to remind them that I required mental health care. Today I tried to call, and their machine says the office is just closed? No option to leave a message with any of the doctors there. Are they still a practice? Did they move? Are they not supposed to let their patients know if they're moving, or closing??
Dr. McLean is amazing. So glad to have him for our family!
I have been a patient of Dr. Alan Mclean for 30 yrs! I have always found him to be kind and caring. He listens, and chooses his words carefully. He has always sent me for tests and to specialists when needed. He diagnoses me before treatment, which I greatly appreciate as I am a person who is leery of pharmaceuticals and the pharmaceutical industry. Visits are always comfortable. I trust him, so when my daughter was born he was my obvious #1 choice to be her pediatrician. I'm not found of having to see the student doctors in training, but I understand that it is necessary for their education, and I respect that my doctor has chosen to teach them and give them opportunities for placement in Sault Ste Marie. I find his Nurse practitioners to be very knowledgeable and they take time to explain and answer my questions...I never feel rushed. I also have seen Dr. Taylor through S.H.C and she is a wonderful doctor and she has a great bedside manner. I think the Superior Family Health Team is wonderful and of great value to Sault Ste Marie. My Mom has shied away from the phone since her stroke so I make all appts for her. Trying to get her medication and lab requests are a joke. She had a phone appt with Dr. Taylor on Oct 6 to renew meds and a requisition for lab work, I've called her receptionist every other day and still nothing. My mom's health is deteriorating and lab work would certainly help. Just seems like no one cares. This is not the first time my mom has had issues and we find the doctor unresponsive. Totally unacceptable.
I feel incredibly lucky to have Dr. White as my doctor. She listens to me and treats me fairly. Understands my conditions and doesn't ever make me feel bad. I usually take a long time in my appointments and she never once has rushed me or made me feel I was taking too long. I am blown away by how amazing she is. Superior Health Team admin and nursing staff are wonderful.
DR Alan Mclean and his wife are absolutely horrendous. We cannot make appointments, were constantly arguing to get any healthcare whatsoever. we try to make appointments and his wife tells us to goto the hospital, we goto the hospital, and alan mclean fast tracks the results to his own labs so we cant even get a second opinion, he refuses to work with any patient who needs healthcare more than naloxone or methadone. this doctor is not a doctor, and has breached his hippocratic oath. A depressing and dismal disappointment and a representation of the state of healthcare in our city. youre better off going to the hospital because this doctor refuses to help with anylike, like i said, that isnt methadone or naloxone.
The Superior Family Health Team's new location is fantastic. The building is warm, bright, and clean. The physicians at the Superior Health Centre are always pleasant and kind. They make sure I feel taken care of every time I visit. I'm excited to be a patient here.
In September an appointment was made for me in Dec. Signs were posted and the Dr. Told me the clinic would be at the old PUC building on Queen as they were moving there in October. I walked to that appointment. The clinic hadn't moved there. Nobody called to let me know, the woman who works in the Superior Appointment office on Queen St. didn't apologize and was indignant when I told her that it was poor treatment. No apology...now I walked up to the mall, no apology there either. Got into an argument with Dr. Sarah White who insisted that her front receptionist must have apologized, I was made to feel unimportant, and now a liar. None of them liked being told that they were not professional in how this happened. Nobody cared that I had walked from one building to another, and then to a. Third. White smugly put her hand out to me when I said this wasn't going to work. I told her No Thanks, they weren't responsible or professional enough for me. If they didn't care about this, how would she be as my health care provider. Treated VERY shabby. Back to Health Care Connect.
