Shioon Kim, DMD

Dr. Shioon Kim was born and grew up at South Korea. He served for the South Korean Military for 3 years. He received B.S. in Education (Biology), KongJu National Univ. South Korea in Feb. 1993. He moved to Hawaii for further study after he married his wife, Yeon mi.

He received B.S. in Biochemistry, BYU-Hawaii in 2001 and Doctor of Dental Medicine, School of Dental Medicine, Case Western Reserve Univ. in 2005. During his dental school, he researched--Human Beta Defense (Hbd-1, -2, and -3) functions against bacteria, Case School of Dental Medicine 2002 and published it with ADA. He has five children including twins with his wife. He loves to his children and to meditate the meaning of life. He likes to play soccer, badminton, and swimming. He is eager to serve our community for betterment.

After a bad experience with another dentist, I switched to Sunrise Dental. Once I had an appointment scheduled, but they checked my insurance first and called me to reschedule once they knew it would not be covered for that year. I really appreciated them being on top of that. The staff is very friendly and accommodating.

Go to Sunrise Dental of Poulsbo for all of your family needs. I have 3 boys, and my wife and I all go here. Dr Kim is always honest with what needs to happen but he understands cost so he lets you know he will try the cheaper option with hopes it doesn't need to be something more. My one son had a deep filling and DR Kim let us know it might become a root canal if he has any lingering pain. But was willing to try this first. The assistants are sweet and make you feel really comfortable. The front office knows my insurance better than I do, and gives us print outs of what is going to be charged to the insurance with estimate of what they will pay. Thank you for all the great work.
