Mom moved into Sundial in September 2020. The COVID isolation escalated her aging dramatically at that time. Since moving into Sundial, she is thriving and moving better than she has in many years.nnThe staff have gone out of their way numerous times to accommodate Mom's needs. They communicate well within the team and stay in touch with family as is appropriate.nnMom raves about the meals and loves going to her Physio classes! Her vision is severely disrupted, so she enjoys getting her manicure done. She feels good coming out of the hair stylist there. The Activities staff go out of their way to reach out to residents and bring in a variety of entertainment. The Wellness staff keep an eye on general health and accuracy of meds. They step up in a heart beat if anyone is feeling unwell. There is always medically trained staff on 24 hours a day.nnSundial was exceptionally diligent in the height of the pandemic keeping everyone safe. Mom and I would highly recommend Sundial Lakeview Retirement Residence for anyone who would like support with meals, meds or activities. And lastly, Sundial is very cost effective for the high quality meals, services and environment!
My mother has been living at the Sundial Retirement Residence for just over a year.nnWe initially met with Anna Muraca, Director of Marketing in February 2020. She gave us a tour and reviewed the services. Although my mom was not to make the move until the following year, Anna kept in touch with me to see how she was doing. This was my first indication of how caring the staff are.nnIt was a tough year to downsize leaving behind her home to move to a new place, especially during the pandemic. Even with quarantines, lockdowns and reduced activities, my mom felt at home very quickly. The Wellness Director conducted an evaluation and suggested activities that matched her abilities and the staff found ways to keep people involved Zoom Bingo! They have been diligent in keeping all residents safe and at one point during a Covid outbreak, were bringing three meals a day to residents in their rooms!nnThe atmosphere at the Sundial is more like a hotel with beautiful artwork and comfortable chairs. Each resident has their own suite, including a balcony with access to a laundry facility on each floor. Cable, phone and internet are included. Rooms are cleaned weekly and linens laundered. The dining room and outdoor patio have a beautiful view of the lake.nnThere are lots of activities to attend if you are social, or you can spend time in the library. Weekly manicures are available and there is a hair stylist on premises. My mom takes advantage of the daily exercise class which has improved her overall strength, gets tech help with her iPad and attends movie nights. I know I can call anytime with questions or concerns. Most of all she feels safe there which gives us great comfort.nnNow that things have opened up, she enjoys lunches out with friends and family. My mom will be turning 90 this summer and looks several years younger than when she entered! I highly recommend the Sundial Retirement Residence.
Ashley Allen is one of the sweetest, most considerate, PSWs I’ve had the pleasure of meeting. I’m endlessly grateful for every second she supported my family. She always goes the extra mile for residents and talks to them and cares for them as though they are family. She was on-top of ensuring my grandmother was clean, happy, and heard. That’s all that I could’ve asked for. She became close with my grandmother and was able to form a bond; and became the last friend my gran ever made. I’m so grateful that she was there. Our family often recalls moments shared with her, during that time. I think of her often, and I’m happy to know everyone in her care is treated lovingly. When my time comes, I would be blessed to have someone like her care for me. Thank you so much for all that you do and have done Ashley. I cannot thank you enough. Xx
I chose Sundial for the fabulous food and great view. I have been a resident for three months and every meal is delicious. The variety is fabulous. My room is spacious and comfortable, and QUIET. My view of the lake is beautiful. All the staff are super friendly and helpful. The staff keep us busy with crafts, bingo, and exercise classes. There is always something to do if you wish. Sundial made the transition from living independently in my bungalow until I was 86 to moving here. There is a beautiful walk around the building too. A plus was that I was able to bring my cat, who is happy here also. I get my hair done and my nails done and it’s cashless, which is another great feature.
Really disappointed in the way Anna has treated my family. We toured this place for my grandma and liked the rooms so we booked another tour with my grandma. Up until this point Anna replied quickly. We do the tour and my grandmother likes the rooms. Anna says we should gove a refundable deposit since rooms go quickly so we do. Grandma's doctors fill out the forms and we confirm Anna got them in just over a week. After she confirms she got the documents, we are waiting to hear when we can come in for the exam and we don't hear back. We followed up 4+ times and were met with silence. After multiple phone calls, emails and text she finally gets back to us over a week later and says we can come in for exam in 2 days, ok great. The next day she calls us and says despite having the paper work for over a week and telling us we can come in for the exam, she just looked at the paperwork and her medication implies she will be to much care for them. I'm not mad she didn't get accepted, I can appreciate that but what I don't appreciate is telling my 90 year old grandma we get to go in for exam one day and then the next day saying nevermind and getting her all upset. Then to top it all off, that was a month ago and our deposit still hasn't been returned despite following up with Anna many times who know is telling us she's not sure when we will be getting it back. If the manager can't run the simple process of getting people in here, I can't imagine how much of a mess the whole place must be.
