Really impressed with how the staff care for residents! Very friendly and always positive attitudes. The management staff are awesome too. I had to have my mom moved to another home area and Sarah made sure the transition was smooth with very little stress. The new renovations in the home areas look beautiful. The rooms look very much like their homes. It is very comforting knowing your mother is treated with respect, dignity and cared for with kindness at a personal level. Well done!
Recently my dear 96 year old Mother passed peacefully at Leacock LTC where she lived for the past 3 years. The nurses, PSW's, doctor and entire staff at Leacock provided her a caring home away from home. Even in her final days she was cared for with dignity and love. Thank you Leacock!
If I could give this place 0 stars I would. They don't care about their employees, they expect them to be at work with a snap of a finger, they demand you to just drop everything and bend to their every will, if you don't drive and rely on busses they expect you to get a taxi or get their spouses to drive them in and will make you feel like a bad person if you don't get their on time. They breathe down your neck every time you do anything. The dietary manager is a year younger then me and doesn't know how to schedule for the likes of anyone! She will give the workers who have been their for ages all the hours and not give the newer workers ANY hours or a chance to do ANYTHING! Leacock care home is a joke! I DO NOT RECOMMEND WORKING THERE! whether your PSW, nurse, dietary, housekeeping, etc.... not worth the headache. They also don't give breaks on 8+ hour days and they expect you to just be ok with it! Like seriously????!! No not ok!! STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE
This LTC home was a terrible experience for our Mum. They are seriously understaffed and bring in temps from Toronto who make more than the PSW’s on Jarlettes payroll. The temps know next to nothing about the home and definitely do not know the residents and what their wants and needs are. There were a few regular staff and nurses who were diligent and tried their best but when short staffed just cant keep up. We waited regularly for up to an hour waiting to have a PSW to come to her room to assist her with toileting, etc and that is absolutely shameful. Our Mum passed away in May after being palliative for a few weeks. The day she passed was heartbreaking for our family. Dr Kelly Wright and her fellow explained that Mum would be get comfortable and would not suffer. These 2Drs are not even around during her palliative care. We spoke to them once during her 13 month stay and Mum suffered a terrible death because there were no Leacock staff working they were all temps. They gave Mum wrong dosage and the nurse didn’t know how to administer her medication. My sisters are both medically trained and had to show the nurse how to put the medication into the port For Shame Jarlette This is absolutely disgraceful and Jarlette and our government need to address these LTC issues. No communication with family and staff! They never answer their phone, and when they do, they never know who the workers are or are even aware of who is in the building! Their residents escape all the time because they aren't being watched. Elders deserve better than what they are paying for. Thousands of dollars to reside here, and they don't get proper care!!!!!!
