I started going to this restaurant a few years ago because I work nearby and have been going weekly ever since. The owners are two of the nicest people I have ever met and really make you feel like family. The food is reasonably priced and I've never once had a bad meal. The chop suey combo is my favourite!
Yesterday, while in Sault Ste Marie Ontario, we decided to try something a little different. We decided on eating Chinese food and tried this jem of a downtown restaurant! The food is the BEST and our waitress was very cheerful and provided great customer service! If you're tired of poor quality food or bad service, give this Queen Street restaurant a try. You won't be sorry you did!
Not recommended. We ordered four different dishes and none of them were good. Rice was soggy, chicken balls were crispy on the outside and soggy chicken on the inside.
So, you find yourself in downtown Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario and people can't agree on what they want for lunch. You want something a bit better than fast food, but you don't really want to spend a lot of money. Answer: Sun Kwon Restaurant. They have a menu filled with Chinese dishes, but you can also get a burger and poutine. How's that for an eclectic mix?

We had visited this place a few years ago, while travelling through town, and the food was good. While staying in sault st Marie, we made a point to eat there today. Big mistake! The restaurant is quite large, and when we visited, supper time, it was empty. The decor is old, shabby, and dated- it was dark, and smelled of stale of cigarette smoke, dust and sadness. There was no delicious smell of food cooking. We began by ordering tea, which was served in big mugs with advertising on them - the kind you get free as a promotion. Bad start ... My meal was a disappointment. We started with egg rolls. The inside was basically raw bean sprouts and little else. Seemed to take forever to chew. The chicken balls were rubbery almost like they were re-heated in a microwave? Almost impossible to cut with a knife. I was not able to eat the doughy outsides. My 'fried rice' was basically white rice with soya sauce, and one pea. I had 2 deep fried shrimps, no lemon, but at least they were edible. The biggest disappointment was the chop suey!! Basically raw bean sprouts, with a few slivers of onion. No taste. No sauce. No veggies or meat. I ordered a side of chow mein noodles, hoping they would help. But instead of the fried crunchy noodles, I was given a small paper container with stale pretzle-like stick things - yuk. I mentioned my concerns to our server, and she apologized profusely and took the cost of the dried noodles off my bill. .50 cents. I spoke to her again about my inedible meal, and she apologized again, and reluctantly agreed to take 10% off. My meal. She returned with a new bill - minus $1.40. I won't return and will not recommend this place to anyone.
When I came here they had just opened so it was empty but by the time it was twelve 30 there was no one so I was wierded out l. When we orders the waitress was super kind and sweet. After ordering my group and I got our food quick except for a couple dishes. But once we got them I was underwhelmed as I was expecting home cooked. A lot of the food tasted microwaved or was extremely chewy, however I enjoyed the wonton soup. When I grabbed my silverware I found sauce on my knife and there was splatters on my plate. The atmosphere is very awkward and it is and older building with some holes in walls and cracks with water damage no leaks tho when I went to the bathroom it was dirty and very crowded. Overall this place would be great for takeout but dining in was not the best.
Great place very clean I had the cheese burger with fries and gravy. Could barely Finnish my plate. The gravy was my favorite part. The waitress was so friendly and tended well to all my needs.
Not a serious business - should be closed! The girl that takes orders is incompetent. Placed an order because Hong Kong was done taking orders with the expectation of a wait, for delivery and 3.5 hours later I called when the food didn’t show up, at almost 9 pm and she lied in front of her managers saying I never ordered it and that she can’t call “a long distance number” and that I was supposed to call her back again after ten minutes. Total fabrication! Deceptive little girl. Where is it normal for someone to place an order then call again to order a second time! Manager didn’t take ownership of the problem either and gave the phone to the girl who took the order, who then proceeded to lie repeatedly in front of her manager. Really despicable. Totally made up to save her own skin. Instead of apologizing, told me “whatever” then hung up the phone. The little girl should be fired! Avoid this place, they’re trash! And to the owners: what are you doing with your lives? Take charge of your business now and fire her! She caused too much stress and lies and she’ll do it again. You don’t argue with a customer ever and you don’t accuse a customer of lying! Read the reviews of other customers and alarmed to read about all the food quality problems. Sad to have such a place still operating.
Service was fast but food was very bland not much taste at all girlfriend and I both had upset stomachs as soon as we finished
