We were walking past Sugar Dust when a woman out front asked if we were hungry. I thought this was sweet/welcoming and it made me want to order lunch. The service inside was great and they accommodated my request for our order. Our sandwiches were made with all fresh ingredients and they were so delicious. The coleslaw and pickle was a great side. They had a charity cupcake that tasted great with some proceeds going to an organization that supports indigenous people. Very lovely experience, highly recommended!
WOW!!!! May I just say Carmella and George and the MOST wonderful people we have had the pleasure to meet. I have ordered and tried a variety of their desserts and they are ALL so delicious and beautifully made! I just had my wedding cake / cupcakes and brownies done by them. Each visit they took so much care in what we wanted Halloween themed to boot Carmella was amazing with her spooky ideas and it just turned out so perfectly! They are real family people and it was a pleasure doing business with them and we will definitely return!!!!!! Thank you two so very much!!!!
As frequent visitors to Port Hope, we have been delighted by the delicious food, friendly service and main street charm of this family run business. To date it has proven to be the best cappuccino in town, have delicious scones and the tastiest turkey wrap ever! We look forward to trying the rest of the menu on future visits. Highly recommended!
I was at the new location on their first day, and I loved the atmosphere, and the vegetarian Panini was delicious and fresh. The staff were friendly and helpful. I was very pleased. Vegetarian options: Vegetarian Panini was on the lunch menu and it was outstanding!
A friend of mine has been taking about this little treat called Carrot Cake for about 3 years and we finally decided to check this place out! Small, but very cozy in downtown Port Hope. Owners are very welcoming and down to earth friendly! We ordered the Grilled Ham & Cheese with butternut squash soup. Crunchy on the outside and soft inside, and the butternut was excellent but could be more creamy. The carrot cake is hands down the best I've ever had; soft and delicate. The icing was just right, did not make you feel bad eating it. Will definitely return, a MUST place to check out when in town.
I ordered a tray of sandwiches and cheese tray for 20 guest at my baby shower, which was $85. The cheese tray was beautiful and great! The sandwiches, not so much. My sister, who organized the shower, picked up the sandwiches and when she arrived at the location put them on a separate, nicer platter. When she did that, she counted the quarters as well as the strips of sandwiches. There were only 6 full sized sandwiches that were cut up. My sister went and bought an extra $60 worth of food from the grocery store as we did not have enough for the guests. I called Carmela at Sugar Dust and she was incredibly rude on the phone. Telling me there were 13 sandwiches and that there is nothing she could do and that I shouldn't have picked Mother's Day weekend for the shower. She was so rude that I had to hang up..... She called back an hour later, after the shower had started and said she would make 5 more sandwiches but wouldn't have them ready right away. We were going to go and get them, but since the shower had started, no one could leave and pick them up. I took a picture of the sandwiches on the white trays. NONE WERE EATEN BEFORE THIS PICTURE WAS TAKEN. I posted another review and Carmela was incredibly rude saying we lied about the amount of sandwiches we received in order to trash her business and that someone must have eaten the sandwiches on route to the shower. It was a 5 minute driver and my sister was the one who picked them up. The overall experience was terrible with this business and Carmela is HORRIBLE to deal with. She yelled at an 8 month pregnant woman on the phone and then called me a liar...... I am very supportive of small businesses, but never again will I buy from this bakery. I wish the review could have been more positive...... I have added photos of the review I posted on facebook as well. She is not a friendly person and I hope being a small business owner, she treats customers with more respect.
Amazing customer service! Not only was our cake beautiful but it was delicious! We received compliments all evening about how good the cake was! “The best wedding cake we’ve ever had!” “It was like eating clouds”. Thank you so much Sugar Dust!!

YUM! I’m a newbie to Port Hope and I have to say, Sugar Dust Bakery is one of my new favourite spots. Their cupcakes: DELICIOUS. Lemon Squares: TO DIE FOR. Carrot Cake: BEST. Plus all of the soups and paninis I have had when I pop over for lunch have been just awesome. So happy to have such a great spot to go to in my new home town.
The Sugar Dust Bakery continues to be our go to spot to get fresh, homemade lunches, sweets and our favourite chai tea latte. The owners are great people and take pride in their business. We will continue to support this wonderful local business!
