I had one of the best matcha lattes I've ever tasted here! It's a cozy shop with a friendly atmosphere. You can tell the owner puts his heart into his business and loves what he does. Looking forward to my next visit!
Great coffee! The guy really nice, such a luck neighborhood have this lovely stroe. Wish more people know this place, if you have a walk close high level bridge or you around legislature stop by have a look, its a nice old house over 100 years history. Hope I can work somewhere like this!Food: 5/5
I'm a regular at this café. The owner is an incredibly hard-working dude and the only employee except on Saturdays where he employs the help of his wife, if I'm not mistaken. If you arrive during a busy time, there is always a bustle of kids, people, and dogs in this little heritage building. The owner sells local art and different coffee accessories alongside his menu; the food and drink menu may seem a little average at a glance, but it is executed with care and dedication. The pastries are made by the owner, and on Fridays he brings in locally made doughnuts they sell out fast so you gotta arrive early! StopGap's espresso is one of the few places where I actually enjoy drinking a straight espresso! The menu here also includes a few unusual items, making it stand out: HongKong milk tea, espresso cola in the summer, cortado, and a few more unique items. StopGap is one of the few places I know I can go if I would like a place to work and focus, or if I would also perhaps like to meet somebody new. The seating is limited here due to space-- Inside, there are twelve seats, six of which are shared at one large table. The summer offers additional seating outside on the patio and there is a bench in the main entrance facing the till and espresso machine. The bench shares space with this cute little windowledge so you have a place you can set your coffee. Oddly, despite how busy the rushes can get, there has always been an open seat for me, you just have to be willing to share your table sometimes. When it's not busy, you can clearly hear the casual modern instrumentals of a lo-fi radio going on in the background. StopGap has been an amazing meeting place for our neighbourhood, and I highly recommend a stopover! Kid-friendliness: Lots of families come through here. I've seen kids make random connections with other kids more than once at this cafe. Parking: This cafe doesn't have dedicated parking aside from the street immediately in front of it. There is surrounding free parking in the neighbourhood, but be aware that parking at the immediate site may not be available during certain times of day.
Quaint cafe located in a turn of the century 20th house. They use high quality beans, the cafe is cozy, they have a cute little patio and the team is really friendly & kind. Really enjoy coming here!
A cute coffee shop located in a historic building, lovely atmosphere, very friendly owners, and great tasting beverages! Got the HK milk tea and it was the perfect “not too sweet” taste which is a bit hard to come by these days! Excellent location to meetup for a date, as you can walk over to the high level bridge for sight seeing after!
This is one coffee shop that you don't want to miss out on! Stopgap has a very homey vibe that makes you want to return. They have an uncomplicated menu that allows for the quality of the drinks to stand out on its own. We had the Americano, and their unique blend of Hong Kong Milk Tea which had great depth. But above all, the owner Caleb is kind and hospitable. He's well versed in coffee, but he also takes the time to know his customers. That's why we'll be returning very soon! Highly recommended!
I have only visited this place once and I can say its a true gem of the neighborhood. I was so captivated by the energy and the couple who owned. Having reviewed the hours of operation I just had to ask "You are living your passion on your on time huh?". Their smiles alone told the story. I ended up having a wonderful conversation with them and even speaking about Banff. Thank you for both for providing a life changing experience for my Sister who was visiting Edmonton. No words can express gratitude. Thank you finally for the wonderful vibes and knowing another wonderful place where I can get food made with love and a place to find "our neighborhood".
Hidden gem, welcoming and pet friendly! This place has the best hot drinks and baked goods. I've had their teas, coffees and hot chocolates and they are all terrific! What is really great is how friendly and accommodating they are. I come infrequently when I am walking my dog in the river valley but I hear them call their regulars by name and are knowledgeable about their daily lives and when they ask how my day is I feel they earnestly mean it. They let me bring my dog into the lobby part on leash and not disruptive so I can quickly pay and not leave her outside. They have rotating local baked goods and they are all terrific. Great place to grab a snack and sit in Constable Farone Ezio park 1/2 block away or walk in the river valley. Nice to grab a coffee when it's cold and warm up too. Great for a little date or just to enjoy your day. Just a beautiful welcoming place with very friendly staff. Be sure to check their hours before you go! They are mainly open day time hours. Vegetarian options: Awesome milk alternatives
A great little coffee shop off the beaten path. It's definitely a must stop for coffaholics. The owner is a coffee master as he carefully weighs coffee beans and ensures water is at a precise temperature for the best coffee experience. Stopgap is a small family run shop with cozy seating. Their baked goods are spectacular, so get there early before they sell out.
We had a wonderful experience at Stopgap Coffee. My husband and I both ordered pour over coffees, which were both delicious. The atmosphere is very peaceful and Caleb delivers great service and makes amazing coffee. Love that they also feature a variety of roasters, both locally and across Canada.
